Pentagon Area Fire Destroys 300 Acres Before Control
Smokejumpers from Missoula depot and crews from Chateau- Teton Ranger Station battled a large blaze in the Pentagon Primitive area above Trail Creek. The fire, likely sparked by a cigarette or wind blown campfire, began last Wednesday and burned nearly 300 acres before being contained. Due to high fire danger nearby elk were scarce in the burn area.

Three Accidents and 22 Speeding Citations by Patrolman Helf
Over ten days patrolman Henry Helf reports three accidents and 22 speeding arrests all on a single night during Chateau-Con rad football events. The latest crash occurred Wednesday near Chateau on route 33 involving a 1941 Buick driven by William Brophy of Waller and a 1947 Alberta Oldsmobile. Two women in the Alberta car were hospitalized. Brophy received a speeding citation for improper pass.

Marshall Fire Out and High Burning Index Near Flathead
