Christmas Seal Sale Campaign to Start In County This Week

Residents of Teton county and nationwide will receive 1948 Christmas seal sheets with letters from the Montana Tuberculosis association urging support for the 1949 prevention and control drive. The sale runs this week to Christmas with seals designed by Harry Bart of South Kent Connecticut. Last year Teton County residents gave 1548.14 dollars, about two dollars per person, aiding a mobile X-ray unit that visited the county.

Power Pirates Open Schedule With Centerville Clash

The Power Pirates host Centerville Miners on December 1 to open the home season for both boys and girls. The Miners return strong, while Power fields many inexperienced players with only two lettermen back from last year. The schedule then lists games through February including Fairfield and Dutton matchups and sub district play at Fairfield.

Instructors Attend MEA Delegate Assembly in Helena

Albert Finley a high school science instructor and Fred Swingle a vocational agriculture instructor attended the Montana Education Association delegate assembly in Helena last Friday. Swingle was elected representative of the local teachers group. Chateau schools faculty joined the NEA and MEA this year at one hundred percent.

Dwight George represented the Chateau chapter of FFA at the national convention in Kansas City. He described an educational trip with FFA business meetings and tours of Ford and Chevrolet assembly plants and the Butler Manufacturing Co. He also heard the French ambassador speak.

Crop Head Thanks County For Donations

Erwin H. Schultz praised Teton county for joining the CROP drive with over 100000 supporters. Residents donated more than three carloads of wheat and over $2000 to relief coffers, with Ben Loch of Dutton as area chair. Schultz said the effort could save thousands from hunger and starvation.

Sherbourne Addition Zoning Expanded and Six Permits Issued

The council increased residential zoning in the Sherbourne addition and raised the minimum building value from 2500 to 7000. They discussed a steel storage building and garage east of the city pump house pending state board approval. Urge Stockmen To Hear Talk Next Tuesday

Dr. Howard Welch from the Bozeman state experiment station will discuss livestock diseases and problems at Chateau on Tuesday November 30 and at Fairfield December 1. More than 200 members attended the gathering at the Legion and Odd Fellows halls for a turkey banquet served by the W S C S group. Frank Stearns led group singing with Mrs. Marion Fabrick at the piano, followed by dancing to Ed Oberneite’s orchestra into the night. New officers elected for the coming year include Mrs. Lillian Otness as president, Mrs. Alma Perry as vice president, Mrs. C. H. Porter as treasurer, and Mrs. Susie Robison as secretary.

District Head To Conduct Church Meet

Rev J Homer Magee newly elected district superintendent for Glacier Park district of the Methodist Church will visit Choteau next Tuesday November 30 to conduct the first quarterly conference and meet members and friends of the Chateau Bynum and Pendrey charge. Magee son of Bishop Ralph Magee and now based in Great Falls with wife and two children. Meeting at the local Methodist church starts at 7 30 p.m. A social hour will follow with the Magees as guests of honor. Public welcome and a large crowd is anticipated.

Junior Class Parties At Moose Hall And Gym

The junior class held a party at Moose Hall on November 15 with music by Mrs. R C Graham and a juke box. Attendees were high school students under faculty and parent supervision from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Admission was 25 cents. The previous Friday sophomores hosted a party in the school gym with dancing games skits and Vernon Alf's orchestra. It ran 7:38 to 11 p.m. lunch was served.

The Chateau Woman's club will sponsor Christmas gifts for disabled veterans at Fort Harrison. Needed items include toiletries, cigarettes, candies, cards and other miscellaneous presents. Gifts should be left at the Montana Power Co. office before December. Gift wrappings are not wanted.
