The Water Department of Chateau plans to retire ten year old water works bonds of 1925 using earned funds, not taxes. Bonds bear 6 percent interest and retirement will cut annual interest by 600 dollars, totaling about 3,000 dollars in savings. City plans funding refinances to 5 percent, easing future debt and supporting improved municipal standing.

Fairfield scene near Cole hill Tuesday evening saw Geo. F. Miller a leading Choteau figure struck when a car door opened as he attempted to alight. Forest fires in Lewis and Clark forest show small damage
The Forest Supervisor reports eight fires in the Lewis and Clark forest this season, all under half an acre. Five from careless campers, one from a cigarette, two by lightning. Four campers convicted and fined. federal penalties apply for leaving fires burning on forest lands.

Judge John J. Greene of the Nineteenth Judicial District set November second for opening a jury term at Chateau with forty jurymen called to hear twenty five cases, nineteen criminal and six civil. Criminal docket includes liquor violations. burglary. child desertion. larceny. destruction of fish by explosives. and a case on fish limits appealed from a justice court. Civil cases to be tried include action by James Peebles and others against canal companies and banks. Jurors summoned include residents from Fairfield Agawam Pendroy Power Chateau and nearby towns.

Helena reports Montana farmers and stockmen are paying debts as War Finance Corporation and Federal Reserve Bank loans shrink. August 1921 peaks show WFC loans around 13 million, now about 3.5 million with further cuts expected, while Federal Reserve loans to Montana banks drop from about 14.5 million to roughly 2.5 million.
