Pioneer Teton Sheep Man Mill Cooper Dies in Los Angeles
Mill Cooper a pioneer sheepman credited with bringing the first flocks into Teton county died in Los Angeles California on September 28 at age 94. He had been confined to his room for 11 months and died shortly after an attendant read the morning paper. Cooper came to Montana in the late 1860s, ran a hotel at Wicks, and moved to California about 1893, later working with his brothers O G and Charles in Teton County.

Heart Attack Claims Life of J. A. Baart
County Commissioner J A Baart died at 8 15 this morning at his home after a heart attack. He was a longtime Choteau resident, treasurer of Teton settlers, and had operated a blacksmith shop and automobi livery business before moving to Great Falls before the railroad arrived. He was born in 1869 and married Catherine Carey in 1901. she died in 1935. The body rests at Roberts Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.

Turkeys totaling 3349 pounds were received last Thursday by the Teton County Shipping Association for a Thanksgiving shipment. Advances ranged from 8 to 14 cents per pound by grade, with prime birds bringing the highest price. Final payment occurs about six weeks post shipment as returns arrive. The group plans another sale on December 7 and 8 and is affiliated with the Northwest Turkey Growers association with outlets in major cities. Check Forgery Sent to Prison Plea Leads to Three Year Term
Leonard Lanihan pleaded guilty to check forgery and received a three year hard labor sentence from District Judge R. M. Hattersley at the November term. He was captured in Great Falls after impersonating a buyer at J. E. Byrne’s Oasis beer parlor and was taken to Deer Lodge by Sheriff J. J. Billings. Lanihan had prior prison records in Wyoming and California and had forged several other checks. He returned $19 of $25 after confrontation. other court matters included the dismissal of a case against Frank Bourne and probate of Nels Nelson’s will.

Statewide Range Conditions Improve Four Points from Last Month
Montana range condition on November 1 shows a four point improvement over October. The Division of Crop and Livestock Estimates reports range at 59 percent of normal, with October 54 percent, a year ago 78 percent, and ten year average 86 percent. Winter prospects are poor in several regions, central parts fair, and ranges west of the Divide mostly fair to good. Cattle condition steady at 79 percent of normal, sheep at 78 percent, with movements and feed patterns shifting as drought areas culled and hay supplies vary across the state. Feed supplies are ample in western Montana and irrigated valleys, but upland areas east of the Divide report scant feed and scarce good hay in the southeast.

Dutton Man Charged With Third Degree Assault
