Al Vance Dies in Portland Following Illness
Al Vance, aged 69, died in a Portland Oregon hospital on the 26th of last month from heart trouble and after effects of the flu. An early Teton county settler, he helped run the first telephone line there and served with Mountain States Telephone before retiring in 1929. He lived on a country farm focusing on Gilbert nut raising. His half sister Mrs. J E Erickson notes his World War II service after age 50 and mentions her husband, former Governor and U S Senator J E Erickson, remains active at the Helena capitol.
