Ends The Deer Goat Season Monday In Montana
Open season ends Monday for buck deer and goats in Teton county and adjacent public land. Elk season in parts of Teton and Lewis and Clark counties runs to December 1. Local records show 371 hunters registered. elk 46, deer 14, goats 11. Notable hunters this week include Walter Magee and Ed Geiger among elk, and Adolph Hastlie among deer. Ducks hunting closed after a poor month with smaller flights than forecast by the U S biological survey.

City Launches South Side Street Improvement Program
The city began improvements last week on south side streets and avenues to straighten and grade long existing winding roads. Third and Fourth Avenues are extended two blocks each from notable residences, with First Street Southwest opened through to the highway and Second Street Southwest graded to connect with highways 23 and 89. Manholes will be lowered to current grade to save future filling costs, using the city’s regular street crew and equipment, while a separate project has improved Spring Creek’s east side to reduce winter overflow.

Airmen Hunt Coyotes From Plane in Chateau Area
Ed Canfield and Paul Nalewaja arrived by plane from Williston North Carolina to join Ben Chalmers and friends in coyote hunting from the air. They bagged 22 coyotes en route to Chateau using a shotgun from 40 to 50 feet altitude. Headquarters are at the Chateau garage where pelts are cleaned and stretched as the trio, known locally as the Three Musketeers, return for the annual air show.

Pendroy Catholic Festival Delights Local Crowd

The gobbling door prize went to a Pendroy native and Bill Wellenstein led a lively fire auction. The Pendroy orchestra pleased about 100 dancers while parish ladies donated aprons and gifts.
