Montana Power Co official Enoch Stroh says Choteau begins installing 123 brighter mercury vapor street lights. Eight 175 watt fixtures go to outlying areas, while main street from courthouse to Parkway Cafe will get 14 new 400 watt lamps on steel poles. Project to finish in two weeks.

Thirteen Teton County senior girls plan to enter the Junior Miss pageant sponsored by the Chateau Jaycees. Six from Chateau High, seven from Dutton Power and Fairfield high schools will compete with interviews counting toward final scores. The prize list is nearly doubled with $175 in scholarships awarded by local businesses. The county winner advances to Kalispell for Montana judging. last year Diane McClue represented the county.

Hunter Safety Head Speaks at Lions Meet
Mrs. Joyce MacDuffie head of Montana Fish and Game hunter safety spoke at the Chateau Lions Club on the program. She noted Montana won an outstanding achievement award in the United States and Canada and that she is the only woman to head the program in either country. She traced the program history including 1957 and 1963 laws, praised 800 volunteers and 56 chief instructors, and highlighted safety, landowner hunter relations, and free instruction in Montana.

Chateau schools will not hold classes Thursday and Friday November 23 and 24 for Thanksgiving. Dismissal Wednesday ends the day at the regular time, with a long weekend. Classes resume Monday November 27.
Choteau Football Team Honored at Banquet
Choteau High School held a banquet at the Methodist Church basement to honor the championship football team and cheerleaders. Over 150 players coaches and supporters attended as seniors received ribbon awards and special honors for travel distance passing and other efforts. Mayor John Dunckel praised team mothers for their support as the event concluded.
