Norman Luboff Choir Set for Montana Debut in Choteau

The Norman Luboff Concert Choir will perform at the Choteau High School Auditorium on February 22 in a rare Montana appearance. Tickets go on sale November 19 at Coast to Coast Store and Security State Bank with mail orders also starting then. Prices range from 4 to 10 dollars, seats limited for a two hour program.

Week Two Accidents Investigated by Highway Patrol

Highway Patrolman Roger Kelly investigated two accidents last week. Deborah Kibble, 18, of Fort Shaw lost control 3 miles northeast of Fairfield on November 5 causing the car to go into an irrigation canal. no injuries though three passengers were shaken up and she was cited for basic rule violation. Later on November 6 near Gibson Dam in Teton County, Kenneth Popovich, 25, of Great Falls rolled a 4 wheel drive pickup onto its top. Popovich was injured with cuts and bruises, passenger Bob Benson uninjured, vehicle totaled, Popovich cited for basic rule violation.

John E. Stores to Close Veteran's Day in Montana Observance

Chateau stores will close Thursday November 11 for Veteran's Day while Chateau schools stay open. A public Veteran's Day program is planned at Choteau High School auditorium Thursday at 7 30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Choteau hosts CMR in a high school girls basketball showdown as both teams sit at 7-1 behind Havre. The game follows Choteau's 62-21 win over Shelby with Jacque Jensen leading scoring and nine players getting playing time. The junior varsity precedes the varsity at 6:15 p.m. The regular season wraps with a trip to Conrad and the Northern Division tournament slated at Havre November 18 19 and 20.

McFarlane Services Held For Floyd A McFarlane

Floyd A McFarlane 79 longtime Choteau resident died Friday Nov 5 at his daughter’s home. Funeral held Tuesday Nov 9 at Banks Chapel Choteau officiated by Rev Allen Adams with burial in Choteau Cemetery. Music by Mrs Vernon Scott organist and Gale Isakson vocalist. Casket bearers named Lussenden kin and George Higgins. He was born April 9 1897 in Pipestone Minnesota homesteaded near Chateau in 1912 moved to Choteau in 1924. Survived by a son Keith McFarlane three daughters Maxine Forbeck Mary Lou Jackson and one more and brothers Gordon Bill plus stepchildren and 10 grandchildren.

Crossbreeding Meeting Set For Choteau

Dr. Roger Brownson of the Montana Cooperative Extension Service will host a crossbreeding session for livestock producers on November 17 at 7 30 p m in the Choteau Library. Topics cover what crossbreeding is its advantages and disadvantages hybrid vigor starting systems and use of exotic breeds with emphasis on beef cattle and black baldy feeder cattle.

Rolland C. Ferris 85 died November 3 at Teton Nursing Home in Choteau. Funeral service Saturday at United Methodist Church with Rev. Allen Adams. burial in Choteau Cemetery with military rites. Ferris, born October 3, 1891 in South Dakota, lived in Pony and Chateau. He served in World War I, earning Silver Star and Purple Heart. Survived by sons Don and Jim, daughters Leah Burris and Jean Kay Feist, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Swine Flu Vaccination Totals Reported in Teton County

A total of 14685 persons received Swine Flu vaccinations in Teton County on November 1 and 2 at clinics in Dutton Fairfield and Choteau. Dutton 260 Fairfield 506 Choteau 847. Organizing groups include Extension Homemakers Clubs and the American Legion Auxiliary in Dutton along with volunteers.

Education Week Conferences Planned by Chateau Schools

American Education Week runs November 15 to 19 with Chateau Elementary and High School inviting grade parents to visit classrooms Monday through Wednesday. Eighth graders take a national test in the mornings. third grade visits are mornings. Thursday features community speakers and projects. avoid regular class days. Friday is teacher conference day with no classes. report cards go out November 17.

Veteran's Day Program To Honor War Dead

A Veterans Day program will be held Thursday at 7 30 p m in the Chateau High School auditorium honoring 57 Teton County servicemen and women who died in World War I World War II the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Relatives and friends are welcome as the public is invited. Sponsored by the Teton County Veterans Bicentennial Committee with Legionnaires and V F W members and their families urged to attend. Moonlight Sale a Record Crowds at Chateau Shops

Last Saturday night Moonlight Madness drew good crowds across a dozen participating stores in Chateau. Clerks wore costumes and shoppers found bargain items as stores extended hours. The Chamber thanks the public and notes more stores stayed open this season with multiple December evenings.

Enzweiler Buys Te ton Cleaners From Luinstras

Rodney Luinstras and his wife sold Te ton Cleaners to David Enzweiler effective November 1. Enzweiler a Cho teau native who graduated in 1973 says services will stay the same and hours will be 9 am to 5 pm weekdays. The Luinstras had run the business for nine months after purchasing from Mrs. Walter Snyder.
