GOP Gains Led to County Shifts in Montana Legislature

In Teton County, two incumbents fell as GOP candidates Breen and Hemstad won the Montana Senate and House seats. Democrat Albert Becker defeated Sheriff A. O. Peterson, while Battin led Graybill in the U.S. House race. County offices showed mixed gains amid a slate defeat for a nursing home bond and two constitutional amendments failing.

Mrs. Robison Dies at 73 in Chateau

Mrs. James T. Robison 73 of Chateau died Monday at Teton Memorial Hospital from a stroke. Born Susie Jane Crandall in Tolland Connecticut she moved to Dutton 1911 and married Robison in 1912. She was active in Eastern Star church and civic affairs and survived by husband a son and a daughter with several siblings. Funeral services were held today at Chateau Methodist Church with burial in Choteau cemetery.

Choteau Chamber Sets December Late Shopping Nights

The Choteau Chamber of Commerce will sponsor three late shopping nights on Fridays in December, December 7 14 and 21, to aid Christmas shoppers. Tom Hammond, chamber president, announced after the regular meeting. Free matinee movies for area children are planned for December 8 and 15, both Saturdays. The chamber also said most Chateau businesses will close Monday November 12 for Veterans Day. drug stores will follow their usual Sunday hours.

Calves Donated to Yellowstone Boys Ranch in Teton County

Ten calves were donated along with gas oil and barley to Yellowstone Boys Ranch in Billings during the Beef for Boys Ranch campaign. Donors include Chet Thomas Cliff Beadle Gladys Yeager Joel Otness and Sons Lawrence Trebesch Miller Colony Boyd Stenson Jack Patton Producers' Livestock Marketing Association and Woody Armstrongs. Ray Weist supplied barley and C G Jacobs provided gas and oil. The Armstrongs thanked contributors and the county sheriff's office for brand inspections.

Peck Names 12 Player Choteau Hoops Roster

Choteau High School coach Chuck Peck finalized a 12 player squad for the season. The lineup includes six seniors Dan Hansen Terry Kelly Bill Rogers John Little Jack Nesbit and Gary Dunckel plus three juniors Artie Anderson Dave Stott and Terry Kelly and three sophomores Tom Dellno Grant Gormley and Loren Sasser. The center spot is unsettled with Rogers and Hansen competing ahead of the opener against Fort Benton on November 24 following a Nov 23 game.

Harlem Stars Clown Basketball to Perform at Chateau High

The Harlem Stars a touring colored clown basketball team will meet the Chateau town team Saturday night November 17 at 8 in the high school gym. The Stars entertain with fancy ball handling intricate routines and comedy while maintaining a second lead over opponents. Chateau High School Lettermen's Club sponsors the contest.

Teton County Blood Drawing Slated Nov 12

The Teton County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a blood drawing from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Chateau Methodist Church. The quota is 65 pints and donors aged 18 to 60 are eligible. The drive occurs on Veterans Day and supplies veterans hospitals with whole blood and derivatives without processing charges.

Teton 4-H Program Will Be Presented

The 4-H recognition program in Teton County is set for Sunday November 11 at 3 p.m. in the Chateau Pavilion. 4-H members and leaders will run the event with pins awarded for years of service and special honors. Ray Kelly reports a barbecue lunch songs and entertainment will follow along with a Montana 4-H Congress report from Bozeman. All county families and special guests are invited.

Mrs. Harper Dies at 79 in Great Falls After Illness

Mrs. Maggie M L Harper, 79, died in Great Falls Sunday night after a two week illness. Survived by daughter Mrs. Wilfred Frigge, another daughter Mrs. Clement R. Clemencig of Great Falls, son Lorance Harper of Dutton, a son Joe killed in World War I, two brothers Robert House and Royal House, a sister Mrs. Carl Disher, and a husband died in 1939. Funeral Held for Mrs Susan Pilot in Augusta Church

Mrs Susan Pilot 76 died Friday in Teton Memorial Hospital Choteau. Born Susan Yensick in Czechoslovakia August 12 1886 she married Theodore J Pilot in 1905. Survivors include two daughters Mrs Eugene Wadsworth Augusta and Mrs David Hunt Drummond four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Burial at Mt Olivet Cemetery Great Falls under Banks Funeral Home direction. Chateau Bulldogs Football Season Ends With 26 0 Win

Chateau High School Bulldogs closed their football campaign with a 26 0 victory over Cut Bank to finish 5 2 1, tying for third in the conference. State Voters Along With State in Tuesday Elections

Teton county voted with the state in most races though two constitutional amendments were decided. Incumbent James Battin led Leo Graybill Jr. in the state race 78,187 to 62,176 while E. V. Sonny Omholt edged Robert Durkee 116,147 to 113,860 in the U S Senate contest. Holmes defeated Watson 128,460 to 102,833 for railroad and public service commissioner. Adair and Doyle won Montana Supreme Court associate justice seats. One amendment to abolish justices of the peace failed. another to extend county attorney terms to four years passed 100,752 to 72,958.
