Hoover wins statewide with strong county show. Dixon carries only five of fourteen precincts while Rankin tops in Belleview. Wagnild and Collins secure reelection bids. Hattersley leads for judge. partial returns show varied county results and state races across 14 precincts in early tally.
Walter O Johnson and Amelia Reed both of Agawam were united in marriage by Justice C H Ferris last Thursday. Each party had prior marriages and divorces. They gave their ages legally at the court house when applying for a license.
At noon today Undersheriff J L Billings arrived in Chateau with updated results. Precincts added shift leads for Meadows 985 Forrest 969 Kerr 992 Edwards 1009. Doheney Spring Valley Dry Forks produce mixed totals. Totals unofficial but likely accurate as of update.
Agricultural agents Chas Greenfield and Craig visit Chat e aut to select sample Montana grains for exhibition at the International Livestock and Grain Show in Chicago next month. Great Northern aims for strong Montana showing with state aid and Montana State College extension support. Ten counties may participate with low fare round trip tickets selling Nov 30 and Dec 1. return by Dec 12.
Teton bulldogs overwhelmed Shelby 51 to 6 before the largest local crowd. Loomis returned a 70 yard interception for a TD, Laswell led Shelby briefly, and Dick Jones and Dale scored for Teton with strong second and third periods sealing the win. Next up is Conrad with likely second-team action.
With two thirds of precincts reported the Montana vote shows Herbert Hoover leading Al Smith about 14,000, Dixon ahead of Wheeler, Erickson leading Rankin, and major GOP wins in the second district. AP tallies: initiative measure 32 favored 9,079 to 8,169 against. Scott Leavitt reelected in the second district. Evans wins in the first.
A wool pool committee meeting is set for November 10 in County Agent Robert Clarkson’s office to fix a date and plan the annual wool growers’ meeting later this month. D E Richards and M R Stebbins will lead discussions on lamb feeding, feeder lamb types, sheep standardization, buck quality, and grower buyer relations with invited sheep buyers. Fifty five Teton county farmers support the pool which last spring shipped 112 305 pounds with net proceeds of 42397 29. purchases were by C S McDonald for Draper and Co Boston.
Principal A B Guthrie of the Teton County high school spoke at the Power school dedication in Power. He shared greetings from the county high school and highlighted friendly competition and the seven aims of education outlined by the National Education Association. Mrs Stafford praised the school board and district patrons for progress and effort in building the new facility.
No tally yet but precincts show a decisive negative vote on the proposed roads and bridges mill levy. Ed Halberg of Bole wrecked his new Pontiac near the Nodgskiss ranch as frost hid the windshield. no serious damage. A son was born to Mr and Mrs Ed Hallberg Wednesday night.
George A. Carroll, formerly of Billings, is appointed deputy clerk and recorder by County Clerk W. H. Webb to succeed T. H. Givens who resigned. Carroll will handle the financial duties with Oral G. Meadows assisting until he is acquainted with the office.
Leroy Shermer four year old son of Mr and Mrs John Shermer narrowly escaped total eye loss Tuesday when a 22 caliber cartridge raked in a burning pile exploded. The shell lodged in his lower lid until removed by his mother and a stitch was needed at Maynard hospital.
Marry Price was first to cast a ballot in Precinct No. 1 and Undersheriff J. L. Billings won precinct No. 2. A. C. Burbank had hoped to be first again, but arrived early. Harry Price then stepped up and “put one over.” Election judges and clerks at both precincts were named, with precinct 2 led by an all female board.
