Great Northern surveyors under Amburn move north from the Truchot home ranch between Chateau and Bynum. Chief Engineer Hoagland promotes swift progress toward extending the Choteau line, with a town site to be platted at the Tuttle ranch near Bynum and construction to reach that point next spring or early summer.
The election returns indicate a Democratic victory nationally and in Montana where local races show Democrats winning county positions. Roosevelt split the Republican vote. Wilson appears set for a large electoral college majority with states like New York and Ohio leaning Democratic. In Montana, Democratic gains include state ticket wins and court contests. Republican gains are seen in some counties and legislative contests.

The Milwaukee railroad awards the Great Falls to Agawam extension contract to the Twohy firm. C I Healy will lead construction from Great Falls, with crews starting as soon as possible. The line runs 66.7 miles from Great Falls via Chateau to Agawam with limited heavy work and 50 tunnels.
Robert Bratton returned from a hunting trip with a royal elk head seven points measuring 47 inches. Residents traveled to nearby towns including Conrad Great Falls and Iowa for visits and work. Halloween excitement in Dutton followed by a republican rally in Miller's Hall with speakers Doyle and Mains. A M W A basket social drew strong turnout and a lecture on new rates followed by an extended store and office move by J S Whitacre.
The campaign ended with rising interest nationwide and in rural districts. In Butte and Helena rallies turned spirited amid bitter sentiment, while Chateau saw election activity. At the Beaupre House and Woodman Ball, 271 votes were cast with party turnout high and crowds gathering around bulletin boards.

Following the resignation of Receiver Chas Wilson and the dismissal of Maj by L Barnes, a new administration began last week at the Great Falls office. James W Roberts, noted real estate and insurance man, becomes receiver, while Julius Co Peters, a young city attorney, is commissioned as register. The pair assumed duties on November 1.
The next regular examination for teachers certificates will be at the court house in Chateau Montana on November 29 1912. Examinations will also be held at Dupuyer and Conrad on the same dates. Neelie R Brown Superintendent of Schools.
News from the state reports Oliver Wilson of Illinois Master of the National Grange will visit Montana for the State Grange meeting during Farmer's Week and Country Life Convention in Bozeman. Montana's Cowboy band heads to Minneapolis for the Montana exhibit at the land show November 12 to 23. Helena citizens raise funds to support the booth with Bil Prot, the Cowboy of Caruso, expected to draw visitors and showcase Montana resources.
Additional Local Roy Putman arrived Saturday night after a two week hunting trip in the Sun river country. There is one less sheep in the hills as a result of Roy's outing. Mrs. Wmn Wiseman of the beach east of town was operated on by Dr McGregor Saturday morning and is improving. Murdock McLeod visits from Lethbridge for the winter and voted in the local election.
Frank Salmond’s young son is recovering well after a second operation in Great Falls. Bozeman visitors Smart and Green, potential abstractors and building contractors, scouted town and country for a possible relocation. Chateau attracts lumber firms with four large companies negotiating sites for yards next spring. D J Ryan of Conrad has been acquitted in Montana disbarment proceedings. Ed Mathee is found dead near Browning. Coroner Connor investigates a Shelby-area death as well.
Blackleaf J Taylor relocates family from Clark ranch on the Muddy to J L Collins ranch on the Muddy north fork to use the Blackleaf school. Hazel Hoy returns from Seattle to her parents Mr and Mrs A L Hoy. Mr and Mrs A Venting move from Valier to homestead beside the Lillard ranch by Beaver Creek. Frank Pings of Vohrad and Claud Brown of Valier buy plow outfits to work their ranches this fall. Robert Lillard leases the Burrell Miles ranch adjoining his own.
