Turkey Crop Declines Slightly from 1929 Despite Favorable Weather
The 1930 national turkey harvest is about three per cent smaller than 1929 but larger than 1927 and 1928. The drop is concentrated in the Dakotas through Texas and westward, around ten per cent overall, while gains in east central states offset much of the loss. Dry hot weather improved poults to hens hatch, helping neutralize weak prices last year. Feed shortages remain a constraint.
