City leaders seek CHS student help on traffic issues

City officials met with CHS Student Council representatives Greg Curtis Sally Meadows and Cliff Sabo to curb traffic hazards near the high school. They discussed horn honking abuses U turns sidewalk use and parking, aiming for 9 p.m. honk curfew and more courteous behavior.

Memorial Hospital to receive roof repairs and new power plant

Memorial Hospital will upgrade with a new generator to power the entire facility and temporarily repair the roof this year. Rev. C Fred Crowe said the generator order is local and due in about two weeks with Saturgle supervising installation. Robert Seidler of RPM Roofing attended the meeting in Bismarck North Dakota.

Chateau High School Hoop Season Opens Monday

Chateau High School begins its basketball season with trials today and tomorrow, official start on November 26 at Fort Benton. Four players from last year may return, including Banis the only starter, with home opener November 27 against Big Sandy.

Halloween Vandals Busier Than Usual Says Chateau Police

Chateau lawmen report a spike in vandalism on Halloween with several incidents. A manhole cover near H and H Implement was stolen, hay bales were set afire on the Great Northern tracks, a foot bridge in the city park was torn out, and a tetherball post vanished from a grade school playground. Police Chief Maurice Black noted it’s the first big outbreak in years. Al Warneke attended funeral services in Tacoma Washington for his brother in law Frank Ralfton.

Red Cross Plans Annual Meet in Teton County

The Teton County Chapter of the American Red Cross schedules its annual meeting for Monday November 15 with eight of 12 director terms up for election. Directors up for renewal include Janet Wedum C G Monkman Lyle Standish Ed Schiller and others. Officers will be elected after the meeting with 1965 officers including Schiller chairman Norman Stormwind and Oscar Mehl vice chairman.

Bulldogs Run Past Chinook 26-14 to End Season

Chateau led the Bulldogs to a 26-14 victory over Chinook on Friday to close the season with a 5-3 overall and 4-2 in league play. Jim Scott twice found the end zone with a 75 yard run and a 38 yard run, while Lehnerz opened scoring with seven carries for a touchdown as Chateau shuffled 26 players into action.

Funeral services for Arthur Bagley 72 who died October 31 at Teton Memorial Hospital were held Tuesday at the Methodist Church with Rev. Rites Held for Mrs. Morris in Augusta Church Service

Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Morris of Augusta were held Tuesday at St Matthias Catholic Church with Father James P. Barry officiating. Burial followed in Forrest Vale Cemetery Helena. Mrs Morris died October 30 at her ranch home 30 miles southwest of Chateau after a heart attack. Survivors include three sons Michael Fred and George all of Choteau. four daughters Mrs C Gorder Mrs Tony Namen Mrs Ben Woodcock and Mrs David Warn. twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Pheasant Hunting Slower Than Last Year

Opening day pheasant hunting in Montana shows lower yields than last season as two Fish and Game stations report counts. Fairfield notes 100 hunters with 75 roosters versus 114 roosters per 100 hunters in previous year. Brady reports 124 birds per 100 hunters compared with 164 last year. Officials also report elk checks from Sun River districts with southern area closed to elk after nearing the 100 elk quota, while the northern area stays open to Nov 28 for either sex hunting.
