The 1955 56 schedule shows only two open dates December 2 and February 10. A December 16 17 invitational tournament is planned in the new Chateau gym. First game November 25 at Fort Benton against the Longhorns with Anaconda Central here for homecoming.

Homecoming Planned for CHS Alumni

The Chateau high school alumni homecoming is set for the night of the first home basketball game against Anaconda Central on Saturday November 27. A reunion of classes with a recognition of the class with the greatest turnout is planned, with the Lettermen's Club sponsoring a queen to greet alumni and a dance after the game. A speaker will discuss athletics and the new gymnasium.

Heavy Deer Kill and Elk Harvest Report in Local Area

Hunters report strong deer activity with 110 deer and 22 elk brought to Chateau Lockers for processing since season start. About half the deer were killed by seismic crews. elk and deer condition described as good. Three Texas hunters from the Ray Gibler ranch and three from the Titus ranch contributed elk, with other area reports noting multiple deer shot over the three day special season.

State Water Board Employee Dies Of Heart Ailment

William Riebeilling Eberl 51 died Monday from a heart attack at work for the State Water Conservation Board eight miles west of Augusta near Nilan lake. Funeral Friday at 2 p.m. at Augusta Community church with Rev. A B Gravdal presiding. Eberl, born November 12 1903 in Augusta, is survived by relatives in Augusta Jackson L Morton Edna McCoy of San Jose Calif and others. He was a member of the Methodist Community church of Augusta.

Pheasant Season Opens Sunday Noon for 15 Days of Hunt

The 15 day ringnecked pheasant season starts at noon Sunday and ends at sunset November 26. Shooting next Sunday closes at 5 01 PM and subsequent days use the migratory waterfowl schedule with hunting from half an hour before sunrise to sunset. Open to either sex with daily bag limit. Hunters urged to obey game laws and respect landowners.

Lucille Howard Appointed TB Seal Drive Head

Lucille Howard is named chairwoman of the Montana Tuberculosis Association for Teton County as the Chateau Seroptimist Club sponsors the annual Christmas Seal Sale. Casebolt notes that the 1954 funds set the 1955 program and budget, with sale runs from November 19 to December. Mrs. Howard will organize the Seal Sale immediately to support TB control efforts.

Veterans Day Plans Announced in Chateau

The Veterans Day observance in Chateau features a Military Retreat ceremony at 3 30 pm on November 11 on the Court House lawn. Commander R W Gronberg of American Legion Post No 6 says Legion and VFW members and auxiliaries will participate. The parade forms at 3 pm and Chester Potuzak will lead the band with school students taking part.

Large Crowd Expected at Legion Meeting

Augusta Montana Legion district No 8 prepares for a weekend meeting with about 200 Auxiliary members and 1 600 Legionnaires from 11 central Montana posts. District commander Dave Shannon will chair sessions and a 3 30 p m joint banquet follows separate business talks. Department and national officials, plus a luncheon at the Community Church, are on hand for the event.

Nominees for ASC Community Committees Named

County ASC Chairman C B Turnbull announced that nominees for Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Community Committees will be named November 4 by community election boards. Penny Carnival Draws Crowd at City Park

The annual Penny Carnival by the Youth Fellowship of First Methodist drew 556 paid admissions at 10 cents each. Pranks were minimal and popular attractions included the fish pond and fortune telling booth. Rev. Grant S. Moore said improvements are planned for next year.
