4 H Leaders Conference Set in Choteau November 3 4
The Montana 4-H Local Leaders conference for the north central district will be held November 3 and 4 in Choteau. Delegates from Glacier Toole Liberty Hill Blaine Phillips Pondera Teton and Chouteau counties attend along with hosts from the Teton county 4-H council and Chateau Chamber of Commerce. Workshops led by Miss Geraldine G. Fenn cover 4-H organization and planning, with a panel on Parents Look at 4-H Club Work. The event includes luncheon, a banquet, and a Friday session electing next year’s officers and discussing 1956 program updates.

Mrs. Ona Jaumotte of Chateau was elected president of the Great Falls Circuit Women’s Missionary Federation of the Evangelical Lutheran church at the annual conven tion held in Great Falls. Finley Reports on Montana Education Meeting in Helena
Local teacher Finley and state welfare committee members attended the Helena gathering October 21 to review district concerns. Recommendations include merit increments for superior teachers, prorated extra-service pay, joint boards committees, a one year extension of the probation period, and 65 year retirement discretion. Montana salaries averaged 3780, about 460 less than the 12 state average, ranking behind only Colorado Idaho and Wyoming.

Leffel English Holmes aged 43 died at his Dutton area home from a self inflicted gunshot. Coroner G L Banks ruled death by own action due to temporary insanity. Holmes a former Navy commander served 13 years and had ties to Stanford Princeton UH. Survived by widow a stepdaughter and stepson all of Dutton and a brother in California. Funeral with Masonic rites held at Great Falls Mausoleum conducted by Dutton Lodge.

Montana Power Plans Switchover to Higher Voltage
Montana Power Company will raise system voltage from 50 000 to 69 000 volts to double capacity and support 10 years of growth. The switchover, led by Dix C. Mrs H W Moore died yesterday morning at Teton Memorial hospital. Funeral services will be held at Augusta Community church Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev A Bernard Gravdal of Trinity Lutheran church will officiate. Burial will be in the local cemetery with obituary to follow next week.

Robert L. Taylor 52 died October 19 in a Great Falls hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held at First Methodist Church in Bynum with Rev. Grant S. Moore officiating. Burial followed in Choteau cemetery. Surviving are a daughter in Polson and a son in Seattle, plus a brother in Fairbanks and a sister in Seattle.

First Moisture in Weeks Recorded Over Weekend
Snow covered the ground in Chateau after the first moisture of weeks fell Friday night and Saturday morning. Weather observer Ray Kelly reported three inches of snowfall containing 14 inches of moisture, amid a very dry period. September total and August trace noted. The state weather bulletin cited the coldest readings of the fall season on the 23rd with a 14 degree low.
