Texas Co well near Pendroy yields strong oil show
Swabbing 200 barrels of 34 gravity water free oil in 24 hours without acid treatment, the Texas Co well on the Chester Thomas farm east of Pendroy appeared among the best in Northern Montana. After passing Ellis formation at 2,192 feet, porous dolomitic limestone was reached and oil rose rapidly, with no water detected after 24 hours. Preparation was underway to place the well on production as engineers note the large natural flow.

Choteau high school drivers conducted a one week survey from 3:15 to 4 pm at the J Penny corner. The report notes counts of drivers who did not signal and those speeding, including 68 non-signalers on Oct 16 and 81 checked on another date with no signals. Three drivers made the California stop.

Court of Honor Held for Scouts At Lions Hall
A district roll call inspection and court of honor for Boy Scouts from Augusta Fairfield and Choteau drew parents and troops to Lions Hall Choteau on Thursday Oct 26. District Chairman Leo Murphy presided with Robert Holt supervising roll call and inspection. Awards including first and second class merit badges lifesaving cooking bird study physical development wood turning and rabbit raising were presented by troop scoutmasters as parents pinned badges. Special service certificates honored several leaders and Wallace Thompson received a long service award. Arnold Chanusa praised the boys and adults before the flag salute to close.

Community Halloween Carnival Attracts 300 Plus Youngsters
More than 300 children from Chateau and nearby communities attend the fourth annual Halloween carnival at Legion pavilion Tuesday night. Prizes awarded at 9 p.m. Winners include Mary Lynn Olsen for baby doll name, Danny Slanger for estimating BBs, Carol Ann Howard for jelly beans, and Charles Crane for an electric train. City to Offer Sale of Lots on East Side in Hobson's Addition
The city council at its October meeting decided to offer for sale blocks 22 and 26 in Hobson's addition Chateau now city owned. Lots will be sold in multiples of two at 100 dollars per lot with further ads to follow.
