Soldier Bonus and Slot Machines On Ballot in Montana Election
Teton county electors face three constitutional amendments one initiative measure and one referendum at the general election November 7. Initiative measure 53 would fund a WWII veteran bonus of 10 dollars per month domestic service and 15 dollars per month foreign service by a two cent cigarette tax, totaling 22 million dollars. Referendum 53 would ban slot machines in Montana with local option elections. The amendments include separating the bureau of labor and industry from the bureau of agriculture.

Choteau Rancher Davison Dies After Horsefall On Ranch
Robert E. Davison 42, a prominent Choteau Bole area rancher, died Tuesday night from internal injuries after falling from a horse on his ranch three miles southwest of Choteau. The incident appeared heart related with no external injuries. Funeral services are set for 2 PM Friday at the Choteau Methodist church with Masonic lodge rites. He was active in civic groups including the Teton Memorial Hospital association and the Choteau Lions. He is survived by Laurette, two daughters, a father, two brothers, and a sister.

Fire destroys machine shop on Hubert Moon farm
A chicken house fire spread to a machine shop on the Hubert Moon farm about three miles southeast of Pendray Tuesday afternoon. About 40 to 50 people fought the blaze aided by a Moon-porng grass wind. Firefighters saved a granary and other buildings while the shop and tools were lost. Moon is fully insured.

Case Worker Receives Call For Physical Examination
George P. Pat Spartz new case worker at Choteau for the department of public welfare has been ordered to report for a physical exam in Butte. The draft board exam is set for next Tuesday. Spartz succeeds Gregory Jacobs who went to St Louis University for advanced training. He graduated last June from the University of Montana in Missoula with majors in history and political science. He is from Malta where his mother is a welfare worker. Before joining Choteau he worked at the Great Falls welfare office. The exam outcome may determine if Spartz remains in Choteau.

Halloween Carnival Set For Choteau Tuesday Night
