Eighth graders at Chateau grade school will receive diplomas Friday evening at the high school auditorium after a busy week of final exams and programs. John B. Conlin will present diplomas to Audrey Seufert and 17 others, as the class prepares for graduation and summer vacation.

Grace Malone of Oregon Mother dies in Mitchell funeral
Funeral services were held at W. H. George chapel in Great Falls for Grace Malone mother of C. K. Malone of this city. Interment followed in Highland cemetery beside her late husband Dr Samuel L. Malone. She died last Thursday at her daughter’s home in Mitchell Oregon from a paralytic stroke. She was born November 1 1858 in Canann Pennsylvania. She married Dr Malone in Hillsdale Kansas in 1882 then moved to Teton county near Belleview. Survivors include son Carl four daughters and a brother. One son Robert died last July and another daughter Bonnie died in 1917.

Youth Is Committed Judge Orders Minor to Miles City
Judge R. M. Hattersley and Court Reporter A. A. Pelletier reported on Tuesday. Acting on a two week old petition, the district judge ordered Fred Smith a minor from the Bynum community committed to the State Industrial School at Miles City. Sheriff J. I. Billings transported him by bus and train.

Relief Hay Program Nearing End in Montana County
C G Sheppard announced the Montana Relief commission will wind up the livestock feeding program after shipping about 5 000 tons of hay and $80 000 spent. On Thursday May 31, 20 carloads will go to Colorado leaving 60 tons to be disposed of locally. The hay is slightly damaged and will sell at a low price. About $900 of hay has sold locally. Of the $80 000, $50 000 covered hay with the rest for baling trucking loading and labor. Up to five balers and six trucks operated and as many as 40 men were employed.

After Teton high closes last Thursday teachers depart for summer. Principal Guthrie and Mrs Guthrie remain at Chateau home while Guthrie plans to attend the National Education Association meeting in Denver. Several other faculty members head to Montana towns for rest and related work.

Vacation School Starts Next Monday at Chateau Church
The Chateau Methodist church announces a two week vacation school June 3 to 16 starting Monday, with five departments led by Rev. Edwin Dover and Miss Marie Schemmelpfeng. Enrollment is fifty cents per pupil, with family rate at one dollar, and a final outdoor picnic and Children’s Day program on June 16.

The Swastikas of the Twilight league in Great Falls are booked to play a picked team from the four clubs of the Twilight league in Chateau. The game is set for Sunday at 2 30 at the local ball park with adults 25 cents and free for children. A managers meeting selected players for the challenge and plan further events. The squad will practice Friday evening at the park.

Poppy Sale a Big Success by American Legion Auxiliary
The memorial poppy drive led by Mrs E. W. Allen raised near seven hundred dollars in reported sales from Pendrey and around forty thousand five hundred in Chateau sales to date. A total of 350 poppies arrived, 50 more than last year, with estimates suggesting about 500 could have been sold. Reports from Farmington and Bynum are pending.

In a county referendum 793 of 829 contractor operators voted, 46 against continuing heat production adjustment and 47 non cooperators favored continuation. Local counts are unofficial pending state recheck. Washington officials anticipate four year contracts and AAA law clarification.

Lions Mark Chateau Club’s Eighth Birthday With Reviews
