A June 19 home management tour will visit new houses with shelterbelts and renovated yards in Dutton, Pendroy, and Diamond Valley. Members meet at Dutton high school at 10 a.m. then tour Martin Schultz, C O Juells, Harry Laubach, Chris Jensen, Frank Loch, Guttorm Hemstad, and M T Bechtel homes showcasing water and sewage systems and landscaping.

Council Grants Several Building Permits at Meeting
At Monday night’s council session residents and business owners secured multiple permits. The largest was M. K. Luther’s 24 by 10 foot frame addition to his Hobson addition residence. Others included George Jackson’s porch, R I McClue’s sign for a new bakery, and J M Weaver’s electric sign for Parkway cafe. Alderman C H Malcolm received a leave of absence. Routine city claims were processed.

Memorial Day Exercises Draw Large Crowd in Chateau
Hugh N. Murrow state commander of the American Legion led a large Chateau Dutton and Fairfield crowd through a Memorial Day program at the cemetery. He urged reverence for liberty free speech and worship and noted past wars while praising veterans for carrying on the principles. The day opened with a parade a flag contest honor for the flag and a wreath for the unknown soldier followed by Taps and a closing salute.

Will Practice Chautauqua Songs Friday Meeting
A meeting for all recreation leaders and chorus leaders of Teton County Chautauqua is set for Friday at 8 30 p m in Chateau high school. Mrs Arnold Hanusa directs the all county chorus and will rehearse Chautauqua songs with leaders while Chris Swenson and others supervise auditorium entertainment and gym games. Work Begins on Measuring Wheat Fields in County
A 20 member supervisory staff has been named to measure county wheat fields under the wheat production control program directed by the county allotment committee and the county agent. Supervisors will record field dimensions and sketches, then pass data to a computing and drafting unit to be formed at the courthouse. Work starts next Monday with four or five staff for the drafting force.

The Tigers, who have lost only one game this Twilight league season, beat the Giants 15 to 6 in a spirited Monday contest at the halfway point of the first half. Ralph Bleecker pitched well for the Tigers, while Earles and Core won for the Giants. Tonight the Dodgers meet the Tigers. The Big Six in batting features Gessell, Dale, Earles, J Dellwo, J Care, Loomis with distinct totals across Games at bats and hits. Team standings show Tigers atop the circuit with an 800 winning percentage, followed by Giants Swastikas Dodgers and others.

The Great Falls Swastikas lost 5 to 8 to a Twilight league pick squad from Choteau on the local diamond. Errors hurt the locals as seven charged to them and 4 to the visitors, with Earles recording 13 strikeouts. Otness and Downing had key hits for the visitors while A Lopach and Earles led the Swastikas with multiple plays. The wind slowed play but the visitors pulled away in the seventh and ninth frames to seal the win.

Choteau Eighth Graders Receive Diplomas at Exercises
Nineteen eighth graders at Choteau public school were honored Friday at the high school for completing the grade. Diplomas were presented by J. B. Conlin with Miss Ruby Miller assisting. The program featured glee clubs, solos, readings, and a class history noting 72 different children had been in the class over eight years. Marion King and Sidney Depner were two students beginning in 1927.

Community plans two day Fourth of July celebration
The American Legion pavilion in the city park could gain a hardwood floor and park funds may support the project with civic and Lions club backing. A two day athletic program, old car parade, pet parade and street sports are organized with events and prize money listed, led by Frank Stearns and M K Luther.

Nurse K Brynie’s Work Ends With Notable Accomplishments
Nurse Kathryn Brynie completed her service on June 1 after two months of work. About 900 children were examined for defects and notified to correct them before school. Roughly 900 children will be vaccinated or immunized against diphtheria and smallpox, with extension by Dr. R T O Neill to finish the program.

Teton County Tax Collections Hit New High for 1934
County Treasurer Elmer C. Smith announced that 1934 tax collections for the second half totaled 114,538.79, added to 197,216.81 for the first half to reach 311,855.60. The year’s total runs higher than 1933’s 250,804.88 and shows a 77.26 percent collection rate.
