Over 50 Entertainers to Perform Musical at Chateau High

Sid Willoughby organist and Yvonne Willoughby lead a large musical at Chateau high school auditorium next Monday night at 7 45 with 50 plus entertainers from Chateau and Great Falls. Admission is free though a voluntary offering will go to Teton Memorial hospital. The program includes Carmen excerpts, Deser Song pieces, Willoughby organ meditations, and local studio dancers.

Choteau Airport Seeks Permit To Light Field

The Choteau airport commission requests FAA Seattle approval to light the field for night use. Runways would be fully illuminated with a lighted tetrahedron marking the field. Engineer Obert Peterson drew plans. bids would follow if approved and the field could be designated as 24 hour on CAA maps.

Rev J J Sheerin Appointed Kalispell Parish Leader

The Rev J J Sheerin will become pastor of Kalispell replacing Monsignor F X O Farrell who resigned after 44 years. He arrives May 30 to take charge of the Choteau parish where successor Rev Thomas J Gannon will serve as senior assistant at St Helena cathedral in Helena.

Taylor Brings New 600 Barrel Oil Well to Mosby Dome

Ike Taylor, a noted drilling contractor in Chateau, reports a 600 barrel high gravity oil well on his Mosby Dome government lease at Cat Creek. The Morrison sand flow comes from a deeper sand with four existing wells on the same structure producing over 75 barrels each.

Citizens Must Register to Vote By June 2 for Primary Election

Voters must register before June 2 at the Teton county courthouse if they did not vote in the last general election or have not re registered since. The county clerk, W. Earl Hollar, notes eligibility requires age 21, U.S. citizenship, Montana residency a year, and 30 days in Teton county prior to the July 18 primary.

Magpie Drive Again Offers Cash Prizes

The Teton Sportsmen's Association sponsors a magpie drive in Teton county ending June 20. W Earl Hollar says prize money pays 10 cents per old magpie 5 cents per young bird and 1 cent per egg, with extra prizes for top hunters. The Liberty Bell tour stops in Choteau at 2 pm on Memorial Day as one of 49 exact replicas touring the nation for the Independence Savings Bond drive May 15 to July 4. Arnold Hanusa says copper industry donors back the program and urges schoolchildren to view the bell.

Ernest Black Rites Conducted Here Monday

Last rites for Ernest G. Black 57 year old farmer formerly between Dutton and Choteau were held Monday at the Masonic temple in Choteau. Masonic services were led by Dutton lodge 125 AF and AM with Bethany commandery 19 escort. Burial was in Choteau cemetery. Black died Friday in a Great Falls hospital after four months of monocytic leukemia. He was born May 13 1893 in Olney Illinois and lived east of Chateau where he farmed 35 years. He married Grace Ely at Beaverton Michigan. they had a son Keith who died and a daughter Norma Black Hanson of Redwood City California. Surviving siblings include John Black of Claremont Illinois Oden Spoonville Iowa and Mrs Marjorie Jones. Black belonged to several Masonic and Scottish Rite bodies in Great Falls Helena and Chateau. Relatives from California and Spokane attended. Pallbearers were Jack Parks Clare Van Horn Lyn Van Horn Gordon Cascadden Billy Hektner and H K Burch.

Major vote approves Cha teau school bonds and land deals

Voters in Chateau approve 190000 for a new grade school and 175000 for a high school addition. They also authorize purchasing land for the grade school and selling land once used by the high school. Turnout reached 279 and 419 respectively, meeting the 40 percent legal threshold. No organized campaign activity was noted.

Memorial Day services are planned for next Tuesday at Choteau cemetery at 11 am led by Dr. George A. Sexton of Great Falls, and at Farmington cemetery at 3 pm with D. P Fabrick as principal speaker. The Choteau event is organized by the VFW and American Legion, with the band and a possible parade.

Polish Clergyman To Speak at Church This Sunday

A Polish born Brooklyn native and long time Polish Methodist minister in Polar will speak at Che teau Methodist Church Sunday May 28 at 8 pm. Rew Saczepkowski, recently named dean of the Polish Methodist Dist Theological Seminary in Warsaw, will lecture. He has taught Engfield at Cracow University and at Super nicus University in Poland and was ordained in Detroit in 1922 by the late Bishop Thomas Nicholson. He previously led St Peters Methodist Church and Community House in Hamtramack, Detroit.
