City Band Sets Fundraising Dances for Ambulance Unit
The Chateau City Band will donate performances to raise 1500 for a used Cadillac ambulance. A June 1 dance in Fairfield kicks off the drive and proceeds from local rodeo dances will be added. The 1948 Cadillac, 60,000 miles, reconditioned at 50,000, is sought from W H George & Co. and repainted gratis by Malcott Body Shop.

Geological Survey unit to map area near Chateau for six months
The Topographic Division of the Geological Survey will operate from Chateau for about six months as the official mapping agency. Maps will be 15 foot color quadrangles covering roughly 200 square miles each, with fieldwork centered east and west of Chateau and Simms, and south of the region. Project head Joe F. Strange leads a team including Robert D. Searcy and Clifton A. Gridley, with George D. Funeral services held Wednesday in Great Falls for C Ruth Clark 63 former owner of the Parlor Shoppe in Chateau. Born Clermont Ind April 14 1894 she moved to Great Falls in 1900 and owned the Parlor Shoppe from 1945 until two months ago. Burial at Mt Olivet with O’Connor’s assisting. Survivors include two sisters two brothers and several nieces and nephews.

A picturesque show titled Through the Years was held Friday May 17 at 8:00 pm in the high school auditorium. Models wore garments from Home Economics I II and III with both old and new outfits, including three wedding gowns from 1900s 1920s and a modern design. Performances featured a Girls Table Trio barbershop numbers and a 1920s styled intermission act, with an appreciation corsage for the Home Economics instructor and an open house of student projects afterward.

Pioneer ranchhand and cowboy Witluim Rattlesnake Bill Zuehlke died May 16 after four days illness in Augusta Wisconsin. He was born November 30 1882 in San Antonio Texas and, after guiding trail herds through Montana, settled in Augusta in 1906. Survivors include a sister in Beloit Wisconsin. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 pm in the Augusta Community Church with Rev A B Grandal officiating. Pallbearers were Dave Udin Tot Nett Jim Reeve Andy Irelard Pat White and A R Pender.
