Chateau High School held its Class Night awards with multiple honors across sports and music. Notable football awards went to Rudy Ameline as MVP and Tim McCartney for best defender, with Ameline making all conference first team and second team honors earned by Scott Forrest and others. Choteau High Baccalaureate Set for Sunday
Supt. Ed Schiller announced speakers for the Choteau High School baccalaureate and commencement. Rev Don Ian Smith of the Choteau United Methodist Church will deliver the baccalaureate on Sunday May 25 at 8 p.m. Tom Demmons, former Choteau High School instructor, will deliver the commencement address.

Lutheran Rites This Afternoon For B. Pedersen
Funeral services for Baard Pedersen aged 80 who died May 19 will be held at 2 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau officiated by Rev. Marlow Engberg and Rev. Howard Wennes. Burial follows at Chateau Cemetery. Pedersen, born January 20 1889 in Holmnes Norway immigrated 1910 to the United States and farmed in Montana before retiring in 1950. He is survived by a son Lloyd and a granddaughter Linda among others.

Residents boost fund for Chateau July 4 fireworks
Twenty five more area residents joined the donors list for the July 4th Fireworks Fund bringing total gifts to 86.71 and edging the total past 200. Leo Pierre, chair of the sponsoring Chateau Firemen committee, says the order will be placed soon and urges continued contributions. Donors include numerous individuals and local businesses and donations can be left at local outlets including Choteau Drug and Citizens State Bank.

In Chateau High School auditorium on May 12, Mrs. Gordon Delger led a Girl Scout awards event. Cadette Troop No. 7 earned First Class badges for June Dale Janet Otness Sharon Christman Jean Van Setten Mary Ann Dellwo Mary Claire Hensley Carol Peterson Carolyn Scott Betty Inbody and Jody Sabo. Romae Sargent of Senior Troop No. 66 received a graduation certificate and a 10-year pin. Jane Southard received funds from local groups for her San Diego Opportunity Trip. Troop 7 conducted the flag ceremony and retired the colors.

Chateau City Council ends water shortage by resuming lawn irrigation with adjusted hours from 7 to 10 am and 5 to 9 pm seven days a week. Plans include cleaning a behind the Foster residence well to 40 000 gallons per hour and pursuing an independent cemetery water source.

Accidents Near Choteau Involving Two Disabled Trucks
Montana Highway Patrol reported two accidents near Choteau last week. A 1952 ton truck driven by Bill Obernolte rolled on a hill after brake failure, shedding 260 bushels of grain. Obernolte was injured and hospitalized. A 1958 Plymouth driver, Cha teau Juvenile, lost control on a gravel road, vehicle rolled into a borrow pit, driver escaped uninjured and was cited for reckless driving and handed to juvenile authorities.
