Andy Jordan and John Breen received their Eagle badges at a Choteau Eagle Court of Honor. Beyil Morris and Arnold Hanusa presented the awards as Rev. Don Smith offered the invocation. The event marked the troop’s 16th Eagle since 1950 with D P Fabric acting as Voice of the Eagle and Dick Conklin detailing merits.

Memorial Day Observance With Services and Band Concert
Memorial Day programs are set for Friday May 30 at Choteau Cemetery 10 45 am under the Choteau American Legion and VFW Posts with Lloyd Reynolds directing the Chateau High School band and Everett Sassa as bugler. A prayer by VFW chaplain Jack Rogers readings by Frank Hensley and others follow along with wreath laying and a Salute to the Dead. If rain occurs events move to the old high school auditorium and a 1 pm concert in the park may proceed. A second memorial service is planned for Farmington Cemetery at 2 pm led by Rev Marlow Engberg. public attendance is invited.

Service Station Opening Slated in Chateau
Bob Dunckel announced plans to open a Union 76 service station in Chateau at the former Breen site next to the Antler Bar. The closed station has undergone repainting and renovations. The new facility will sell Union 76 fuel, used vehicles, and offer vehicle refinishing with seven day service starting Monday June 2. Dunckel brings prior experience from a three year Texaco station lease in Chateau and years in car sales.

Teton Trail Museum Opens for Summer Season
The Teton Trail Museum will open Monday June 2 for the summer season from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Owners Mr and Mrs Robert Zion say the opening begins the museum’s second year, with plans for improvements following a successful first year.

Funeral services for Erwin H. Arp 53 of Dutton were held at St. Williams Church with Rev. Bu to officiating. Zwerneman Mortuary arranged burial in Chateau Cemetery. Arp, born January 25 1916 in Terry Montana, served as a school bus driver and deputy sheriff, survived by widow Rheta two children and several relatives.

Joe Knudtzon Dies in Portland Funeral Services Held Monday
Joseph Knudtzon 78 longtime Chateau business man died in Portland Oregon after a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Marlow Engberg with burial in Chateau Cemetery. He was born June 20 1890 in Bowdle South Dakota and later lived in Lewistown and Choteau where he built a lumber business and served on the city council. He married Gena Anderson and later Alma Hansen surviving are a daughter and two brothers. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were named.

Hofeldt fires rare hole in one at Choteau course
Don Hofeldt scored a hole-in-one on the 145 yard fourth hole at Choteau Country Club last Sunday. It is the third ever at the club and the first on that hole. Hofeldt achieved the feat while golfing with his wife Marlene and Mr and Mrs Dave Shannon, earning a trophy and prizes from equipment manufacturers.

Mrs. Gussie Cardell died Wednesday morning at Teton Memorial Hospital after a months long illness. Funeral services set for Saturday May 31 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Chateau. Services Held For Stott Baby In Great Falls
Funeral services were held for Charles Andrew Stott two month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stott at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chateau. He died after illness on May 21 at a Great Falls hospital from a non-couragerous meningitis. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Great Falls, with pallbearers and music by local church members. Survivors include his parents and siblings, grandparents, and numerous relatives.
