4 H County Picnic Plans Set For June 27
The 4 H County Recreation council met at the county agent s office to finalize plans for the annual 4 H picnic at Dutton park on Sunday June 27. Attendees included Harry Laubach Veda Thompson Mabel Crane and Paul Rice with Leonard Beck absent. The program features a brief 1 15 pm start two minute talks by 4 Hers from Bozeman and band music plus short numbers. Rice Sports Chairman will oversee a sports program with novelty contests and cash prizes and a baseball game between high ranking east and west half county teams. A round robin tournament determines the two teams that will play the final. East half teams Diamond Valley Beck Greenfield Power. West half Porter Bench Bynum Agawam Fairfield. Schedule includes May 27 to June 10 games at various towns. (Continued on page 4).

New Welfare Rules Hit Montana County Caseload
D W Hutchinson in Teton County of the Montana public welfare department reports new regulations effective now. Old age assistance cases must be re-investigated with a 30 per county WPA quota, to be completed in six months, with reports reviewed by the county board and then state officials. Additional notes cover public works projects in Choteau and Fairfield resettlement, and changes in aid to dependent children replacing the old mothers pension with shared state and county costs.

Wool Pool Marks Marketing Shift for Teton Wool
The Teton county wool pool sales committee met at the courthouse to decide marketing for this year. They chose the Pacific Wool Growers Association of Portland, Oregon. About 120000 pounds are in the pool with a note to keep it open for now and expect over 150000 pounds by completion. Wool growers should visit the county agent at Chateau to sign marketing agreements with Fred Willson overseeing.

Seniors to be honored at church service
Members of the Teton high graduating class and the class sponsor Miss Grace Thompsons will be special guests for Sunday services May 23 at 11 a.m. at the Methodist church. County road work begins from Fairfield to Spring Valley
The first seasonal county road crew, led by County Surveyor Obert Peterson, started grading the main road from Fairfield through Spring Valley. Ten workers are on site, with Mrs Geo Seufert cooking, two “eats” and an elevator grader in use. project expected to take three weeks or more.

Moore Wins Five Points for Teton High at State Meet
Jim Moore led Teton High to five points at the State Interscholastic Meet at the State University Missouri. He took third in the half mile and fourth in the mile. Sid Yeager placed high in the quarter mile before a fall ended his bid. Don Buckingham and Kenneth Thompson struggled in their events as the relay drew a tough lane. Butte High won, Missoula second, Great Falls third. Teton finished no podium spot.

Harry Ames Dies Suddenly in Choteau
Harry A. Ames 42, proprietor of Choteau Drug Co since February, died of a heart attack early Friday in Choteau. Born August 21, 1894 in Ionia Iowa, he was a World War veteran, pharmacist from Minnesota and Montana, survived by his widow Esther Ames and mother Mrs Emma Ames. Funeral services were in Great Falls with cremation.

Combined High School Bands to Play Saturday Eve
The Dutton high school band and the Teton county high school band will perform Saturday evening at the Legion pavilion in city park. Young Fairfield Man Fined for Resisting Officer
Quisling Au stad of Fairfield pleaded guilty to resisting an officer and disturbing the peace. Justice J. G. Jackson imposed a $50 fine and a 60 day suspended sentence after County Attorney E. L. Murphy filed the action. Sheriff J. L. Billings arrested him following a struck deputy Alick Hanson at Fairfield.

Mrs Burfening Improving After Illness
Word reached here Monday that Mrs Ed Burfening is greatly improved and able to sit up in a wheel chair. She remains at her son's home in Los Angeles while Mr Burfening is expected home this week though she will not return right away.
Teton Chautauqua Dates Set and Prices Slashed
The Teton Chautauqua committee voted to move the event to September 24 25 and 26 and cut admission prices by half from last year.
