Retiring Grade School Teacher Reflects on Choteau Years
Mrs. Emily Hodgskiss, longtime Chateau elementary teacher, will retire at term end after a near quarter century of service in Choteau. Born 1891 in Herman Nebraska, she began in Claude at Perry school and joined Choteau in 1914, later marrying J Edward Hodgskiss and resuming teaching in 1937 after a brief leave.

Mid May Storm Hits Chateau Area With Snow and Rain
A freak storm swept the region over the weekend with rain on Friday followed by snow hail and rain on Saturday and Sunday. Dutton road and other county routes opened after travel disruption. Northern travelers reported heavier snow and moisture with as much as 18 inches on the level in Pendrey Dupuyer area. The Montana Weekly Weather and Crop Report notes rains and snow improved crop prospects statewide.

A class of about 50 from Chateau Augusta Bynum Pendrey Fair Out attends with Catholic Ladies Auxiliary serving dinner and a reception planned in the church hall after the ceremony. Man seeks leave to intervene in oil lien case
Percy Hodgskiss asks District Court to intervene in a lien foreclosure brought by Warren Aikens of Aikens Drilling Co against Riverdale Oil Co. Aikens seeks $13,593.33 for drilling a well. Hodgskiss claims a one half pipe ownership and asks dismissal of the lien as to his share and a judgment in his favor. The hearing is set for May 18.

Montana Fishing Season Opens With Varying Bag Limits
The fishing season starts next Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time statewide. Aggregated limits set at 15 fish per bag including species A through E, with sublimits for rainbow and cutthroat trout, other trout and char, crawfish, and salmon. Specific limits include 20 for Rocky Mountain whitefish, 15 for pike perches and 5 for northern pike with an 18 inch minimum length for pike.

Fire Insurance Residence Rates Lowered in City
Fire insurance rates on residences in the city were cut about 20 percent, announced by William Olsen of the Nelson Agency. Construction To Start On Addition To Elementary School
At a special board meeting bids were awarded for an addition to the current elementary school. Zion Construction Company of Choteau won the general contract for 45 796 dollars and Teton Plumbing and Heating secured the mechanical work for 10 809 dollars. The electrical bid was readvertised. The project adds three classrooms a boiler room and two lavatories with minor plan changes. Construction should begin immediately and target the new school year. The board also advertised the old elementary school building for sale after appraisal.
