The marketing quota penalty on excess 1955 crop wheat is $1.13 per bushel or 45 percent of May 1 1955 parity. Exemptions apply for farms under 15 acres or low production. excess wheat on noncompliant farms is ineligible for price support and conservation payments. County ASC offices offer further guidance.
The 1955 Teton county fish plant by the State Fishing Game Commission lists 8,000 six-inch trout and 15,300 fry for streams and lakes including 1,000 six-inch Rainbow trout for Teton River and 120,000 Rainbow fry for Pishkun Reservoir. Officials and sportsmen meet to discuss water flow, elk and deer seasons, and a landowner survey for possible hunting openings.
James Alexander Dunlap 66 died last Monday at a local hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday at the First Methodist Church. He was born September 9, 1878 in Aurorahville Wisconsin, eldest son of James and Margarete Dunlap. He worked as a car repairman and later inspector before a life of extensive travel across Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Wisconsin and beyond. He kept a daily diary labeling himself as a wandering Jew. He remembered Vernon E. Hall D D who died in 1939.
At a noon luncheon at the Choteau Drug on May 11 a group of men discussed forming an athletic booster club. Members include Rev A B Gravdal Cedric Schroeder Bruce Thompson John Dunckel Milton McNea Harold Hinman Bob Dahlin Dean Swenson Chick Sulgrove Jim Dellino Arnold Hanusa and Ed Jacobson. Plans set dues five dollars with coverage to Sept 1 1966. The first meeting is May 25 at the Choteau Drug noon to 1 PM.
Brig. Gen. James O. Guthrie commander of the 28th Air Division, Great Falls, told Cha teau Lions Club Charter Night listeners that air defense has no borders. He outlined three defense phases: Strategic Air Command, Air Defense Command based in Great Falls, and early warning systems with ground observer posts and radar rings in Canada and the United States. He warned Great Falls as a military target and potential war loss of supplies if eastern cities suffer hydrogen bomb attacks. Lt Burland added a brief Air Defense talk with slides.
The Guardian Angel Catholic Church at Power is nearly complete with an open house and tea on Sunday May 15 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM for local residents to view the church. C L Ferguson of Great Falls recently underwent major surgery in Great Falls.
Mayor Ted Halvorson designates Monday May 16 to Saturday May 28 as clean-up week. Chateau residents urged to remove trash leaves garbage and unsightly materials to the city dump. Burning leaves and grass is allowed on premises. city trucks will aid free of charge during the two weeks. Residents should leave other debris in the alley to speed removal by city workers.
Last rites were held for Eugene Kretschman who died May 4 after a year of ill health. Born November 18 1885 in Magdeburg Germany he emigrated to Calgary in 1910 with later moves to Great Falls and Chateau. Survivors include his widow son Robert a grandson and three sisters in Magdeburg and Houston. Pallbearers were Fritz Lindner Emil Jackson Harold Dreyer Axel Wester George Morris Jr Andrew Brutosky. Banks Funeral Home directed.
The Chateau Lions Club will host a waffle supper on Tuesday May 24 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lions club hall. Public invited with prices 50 cents and 1.00. Proceeds support current funds and aid the city band for a Calgary trip and district Lions events May 26 27 28. The Calgary Lions invited the Chateau band to appear and promote Dr H W Bateman for District Governor of District 37C Lions International.
The Conrad Lions Club will sponsor the fifteenth Whoop-up Trail Days in Conrad on May 20 and 21 with new features planned. Readers should check page 8 of this issue for full event details. Mr and Mrs Richard Ellis of Great Falls visited the Crawford ranch on Wednesday.
Beverly Monkman daughter of Mr and Mrs Gib Monkman was installed as worthy advisor at Chateau Assembly No 54 Order of the Rainbow for Girls following the May 2 meeting. County Treasurer Lorraine Maynard requests the return of Montana state Driver manuals from anyone who no longer needs them. The office is out of stock and a new supply is not available, so manuals are to be returned for use by others preparing for state tests.
The Northern Class B Division schools approved the Montana High School Association redistricting at a recent meeting. The plan places Cut Bank Browning Sunburst Shelby Conrad and Chateau in the Northern Division. Fairfield Fort Benton Havre Chinook Harlem and Malta join the Northcentral Division with Fairfield as the sole dissent. Schools urged moving Fairfield to Northern once a new school joins Northcentral, while Walters sought admission to Northern pending Board approval.
The High School Band plans a fundraiser dance in the new gymnasium on Friday May 20 to raise support for sending the band to Lethbridge. Tickets are sold by band members or at the door at a nominal price. Spectators welcome for an evening of music by the city band led by Kenneth Thompson and other listed volunteers.
The Joyce Moe Modern School of Dancing will present Great Falls and Chateau pupils in an all costume revue at 8 00 p m on Saturday May 14 in the Masonic hall Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children The program will include several solo numbers.
Trinity Lutheran church hosts a May 4 Mother-Daughter banquet with about two hundred attendees. Men of the Brotherhood served meals prepared by Esther-Priscilla Circle. Dorcas Society arranged program and decorations, with Mrs. Everett DeRusha as chair.

County Agent Ray Kelly notes reports began April 19 and urges farmers to inspect fields. Experts cite cool spring aiding worms and recommend Aldrin Endrin and timing of spraying.
Charles Peck longtime St. Ignatius faculty member and coach of basketball and baseball resigns May 5 to take a role at Chateau as general athletic director and history government instructor. He led Mission High teams to multiple state tournaments and Montana championships while praising his students.

Fairfield serviceman John Foster was seriously injured in a late night crash nine miles east of Fairfield on U S Highway 12. His 1954 Ford left the road near the Asheulot bridge after he reportedly fell asleep. He suffered multiple fractures and was evacuated first to Teton Memorial Hospital, then to Great Falls Airbase hospital, and later flown to a California facility. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Bill Foster of Fairfield.
In Justice William Irwin's court Max Lee Kipp of Cut Bank forfeit 10 dollars on a charge of failing to possess a valid driver's license. John Schoenfeld of Dutton pled guilty to driving on the left side and paid 10 dollars. Theodore F. Faber of Conrad was fined 10 dollars and costs on a reduced careless driving charge. In Justice J M Sulgrove's court Katherine Corey of It forfeited 10 dollars on a license charge. Art Nadeau of Choteau paid 10 dollars each on a fire charge. Clifford D Palen of Chotiat paid 125 dollars fine for DUI May 6.
