A Monday evening reception celebrated the team returning from Missoula with three gold medals and one bronze. Prof Toan served as toastmaster as faculty, board members, parents, and guests praised the athletes and looked forward to next year.
Alumni of Teton County High School, dating to the 1903 first class, plan their annual reunion on Thursday evening May 26 at the high school building. About nineteen alumni live in Chateau and nearby, with total alumni this year around thirty nine and six graduates expected this year. Guests include current and former teachers, parents of this year’s graduates, and the high school board members.
A light to moderate rain, with some wet snow Sunday, fell Saturday afternoon and continued through Sunday. The rain was not heavy but totaled enough to benefit crop conditions already in good shape.
Fairfield P. I. Cole traveled from Choteau on Saturday and planned a Sunday at the ranch. Mrs. Guy Jameson has been ill for a week. Lars Nassett and family visited J. Thornd’s home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. G S Jameson traveled to Choteau on Tuesday and returned Wednesday. Local youths attended a large dance at Power on Friday night. J W Bellis, an eastern wholesale grocer, is taking orders on the bench this week.
The Denver contest between wets and drys ended with a dry defeat by an estimated fifteen thousand votes. Roosevelts attend King Edward funeral in London. Halley’s comet nears earth with tail passage. Teton County high school and alumni celebrate a strong Missoula showing with sixteen points, placing fourth behind Gallatin, Helena, and Granite counties. Ora Armstrong, Asa Teton, and John Truchot earned medals in discus, broad jump, hammer throw, and shot put as Seton students watched a university triangular meet. Coaches and star Emmet Ryan praised the team while exams and monthlong summer plans loom.
Barbers in Chateau raise shave prices from 15 to 25 cents by mutual agreement. Neck shaving is included at no extra charge, but no discount for skipping the neck shave. The change matches actions in Great Falls and other cities, with no other price increases for shines or hair services. Customers must bring two bits for a shave.
The Ladies' Aid of Dutton held a supper on May 14 at the local hotel dining room. Proceeds totaling 91 will fund Sabbath and day school needs.

The Teton County high school plans a Friday May 2 commencement in the assembly hall. Students perform music and essays including Lucille Anderson on Shakespeare, William Hodgskiss on The Man of Today, Maude Hawley on Alaska, Maude Wilcox on Hull House, Rupert Ward on A New Heaven and a New Earth, Pearl Heighton on The Genesis of the Gods. Diplomas will be presented. seniors request no flowers or presents on stage.
A large Valier Masonic party visited Choteau last night as a new Valier lodge prepares to organize and include county representation. The guests from Valier included Campbell Clark Newcomb Powell Bullock Hunter Mains Smith Singer Charlton Levy Menkler and Long while Dupuyer attendees were Leech Kingsbury Dean Harris and Perkins. The event was a social success and visitors praised Choteau hospitality.
The public school invites patrons to visit the annual exhibit Friday May 20 from 1 to 4 p m in the school's rooms. Principal H C Thompson extends a cordial invitation to view the students' work from the past school year.
Local notices advertise an auction of P B Christians personal property in Choteau on May 21. Haugen’s Cash Bazaar promotes desserts and hats while Choteau Mercantile buys eggs at 25c per dozen. Jos Hirshberg Co offers shirts at 20 percent off and I O Larson of Chateau Montana reports roundup work. Fifty unbroke mares 1000 to 1100 lbs sell for 75 to 100 each. Mrs Nat Collins visits Saypo. County Commissioner Miller travels from the Sue river country.
Edmund Youngblood a native of Germany and resident of Chateau has filed for final citizenship papers. A hearing is set on or about November 30 1910.
Celeste Pellows born in New York and later a Canadian citizen, on May 12 declared his intention to become a United States citizen. He resides at Dupuyer.
The Stephens Automobile Co delivered three new 4-cylinder cars from Collins on Monday. Purchasers include The Chateau Land and Loan Co W H Gorham & Co and Jos Hirshberg & Co. The cars are described as fine looking.
Mrs John Gough travels to Helena to arrange shipment of the Gough household to Chateau. Mr and Mrs Gough will occupy the Boutilier residence on Main street, recently vacated by J A Prescott and wife. Friends welcome the newcomers. Mrs Gough is well known locally.
Friends report Mrs C E Cunningham underwent a successful operation at Mayo Hospital Rochester last Sunday. Her mother Mrs D D Cole received a telegram Monday confirming her improving condition. Present were her husband Rev Chas E Cunningham and her brother Rev Frank Cole of Waterloo Iowa.
The Teton high school group led by Prof. Crawford Asa Armstrong Ora Armstrong Fred Ward Rupert Ward John Viuchot returned Sunday from the interscholastic meet at Missoula. En route in Great Falls they were challenged to an athletic meet for Monday but the Great Falls team withdrew, giving the Teton delegation the win by default.
Charles Green a noted horse raiser was kicked in the face by a bronco at his home ranch eight miles southeast of Chateau. He suffered shattered nasal bones and was taken to Great Falls for hospital care. He remained unconscious for hours and woke briefly Wednesday morning with improving reports.
The state reports ranches near Shields valley selling for 54000 last week while Anaconda seeks limits on saloons to 40, with current total 47. Helena Mayor Edwards fined 300 for contempt. seven councilmen fined 10. An electrician loses arm at a Butte mine in an electric fan incident. The Montana Anti Tuberculosis league meets in Livingston.
