Montana farmers welcomed a major rain event with reports of 1.5 to 4 inches in areas from Choteau to Fergus County. Choteau totals reached 1.58 inches while Collins exceeded 2 inches. The moisture revived winter wheat and spring grains, improved range, and reduced wind erosion, with officials calling the rainfall a "million dollar" boost though more rain was still needed for full crop and range recovery.

Fishing Season Opens Sunday for Choteau Anglers
Choteau anglers will depart Saturday and Sunday to start the 1962 fishing season. The general season begins at 5 am Sunday May 20 with forecasts noting high muddy streams in the area pushing anglers toward reservoirs. Plantings at Eureka and Nilan may favor opening day. Pishkun Willow Creek remain closed to June 2 under federal rules.

Leslie Stott Injured When Forklift Falls
Leslie Stott at north Chateau farm er was injured Monday when the Farmhand forklift he was servicing fell on him. He suffered a fractured jaw and injuries to his right shoulder and head after the forklift slid on wet ground and pinned him. Darrel Stott, his son, and David, an attractor, helped lift the machine and pull him free before he was rushed to Teton Memorial Hospital for hospitalization.

Mrs E Connor 93 of Dupuyer died last Tuesday at Teton Memorial Hospital. Funeral held Saturday in Dupuyer Hall with Rev Druckenmiller officiating. Burial in Dupuyer cemetery. Born in Iowa she moved to Augusta in 1890 and to a ranch near Dupuyer in 1895. Survived by three sons Frank W Clarence and Delbert all of Dupuyer. a son Wilbur preceded her. Power High School to Host Commencement Exercises
Dr. Linus J. Carleton of Montana State University will deliver the commencement address at Power High School on May 22. Eighteen seniors will receive diplomas, led by valedictorian Wilma Grossman and salutatorian Wynn Raymond, who also earned multiple school honors. Ryegate Man Fined After Truck Flips Saturday Night
A two ton truck missed a corner near the Bob McDonald shop and rolled over injuring Irving Peterson and bruising Pete Harder. Peterson 40 suffered scalp lacerations and neck whiplash while Harder 49 escaped with bruises. Harder was fined 35 dollars for reckless driving as the vehicle was demolished. The accident occurred about 9 p.m. Saturday as the truck traveled toward Chateau from East Glacier.

The U S Post Office designated May 21 26 as Mailbox Improvement Week announced by C G Monkman Chateau postmaster. He urged rural box users to provide convenient safe boxes near the road and maintained boxes to ensure efficient delivery. He noted boxes must be approved and placed on the right side of the road where safe and legal traffic allows. Monkman said Chateau area boxes are generally in good condition and thanked patrons for upkeep.

Cut Bank Takes Acantha Meet In Track Meet
Cut Bank edged Acantha by twenty points to win the Cho- som Acantha track meet. Tom Boyle led with 23 points winning high and low hurdles and anchoring the winning 3x100 relay. Ray Yeager of Choteau scored 20 points placing high in six events including a 440 win. Chateau’s Floyd Joramo won the 880 and placed in other events to score 14 points. Choteau, Fairfield, and Shelby also scored as Gary Dunckel was out with pneumonia.
