During the noon hour Mrs. A B Guthrie president of the Chateau Woman's club aided by Miss Walda Oberg prepared and served hot chocolate to picnic attendees in the park. County Superintendent Anna E Stafford issues a statement noting the Chateau district is the only second class district in the county due to its large enrollment.

The J. W. Elliott well in the Pondera field has received two nitro glycerin shots, the second on Monday, and crews estimate production will reach 40 barrels per day. Eight hundred feet of oil stood in the well Tuesday with no water showing. earlier output was only sulphur water and 7 to 10 barrels of oil.

County Agent Clarkson offers step by step control for army cutworms plaguing fields north of Agawam in Beck and west of Dutton. He recommends late day field scouting, poisoned bran mash made with 25 pounds coarse bran ½ pound Paris green ½ pound salt 1 pint molasses, and deep furrow plowing with a thin broadcast of mash to halt the advance and save entire fields.

Miss Virginia Eaton of Teton County High School qualified for the state declamatory finals in Missoula after leading the preliminary serious division among 12 contestants. City to Purchase 47.74 Acre Park Tract for July Fourth Plans
The city council plans to buy 47.74 acres south of the railroad tracks including the present park site on Spring Creek. The sale price is not yet disclosed. Officials say proceeds from a planned July Fourth celebration will be used to pay for the park, with civic groups showing strong support for the project.
