Teton Men Buy Registered Bulls at Great Falls Show
At the Montana Shorthorn Breeders Association sale in Great Falls on May 3, 11 of 53 registered Short horn bulls were bought by three Teton county breeders. Wendell Petri bought two heifers, Oliver Mauseth one bull, and E. J. Hirshberg five bulls and three heifers. County Agent Robert Clarkson noted the stock’s high quality and potential to improve local grades.

Half of county winter wheat killed by cold weather
County Agent Robert Clarkson estimates about 50 percent of the county's winter wheat was killed, mostly by cold in April. The worst areas are around Dutton Pendrey and Power with re seeding underway and about 85 percent of spring seeding completed.

Former Teton High Man Elected Agriculture Instructor
Merrill K. Luther, class of 1918 at Teton county high school and son of former Methodist pastor W. D. Luther, has been chosen to succeed A. J. Johnson as agriculture instructor at Teton high school. He will start June 1 and oversee about 35 Smith Hughes students. Luther comes from Whitehall where he taught at the high school and earned an esteemed reputation. He is a Montana State College graduate and is expected to strengthen the faculty.

Freak Egg Found on Dupuyer Ranch Stuns Trislers
A nine and a half inch long nine and a half inch around egg was found on the Steve Trisler ranch near the Blackleaf area. Inside the giant egg lay a fully developed smaller egg. Both eggs had perfect shells and appeared normal aside from their extraordinary size. The Trislers keep a mixed chicken strain.
Pendroy Well Shows Small Oil Strike Near Pendroy Montana
Continental Development company reports a small oil showing at Pendroy seven miles west of Pondera wells. Oil struck between 2,350 and 2,533 feet in Madison limestone, about 10 feet below the Madison Ellis contact. Initial estimates ranged 8 to 10 barrels daily, with potential rise if shot. A second horizon at 2,576 feet may boost production, though commercial status remains undecided. Principal owner is H. B. Chessher of Conrad.

Funeral for Oluf Lindseth Draws Large Farmington Crowd
Funeral services were held Saturday at Farmington Norwegian church for Oluf Lindseth. Rev Huber read scripture and spoke. Choir and mixed quartet sang. Pallbearers included L J Otness S I Syse Chris Oien John Carlson Steve Lindseth Lars Nasser. Many from Chateau attended the service.

Washington educator Schadmann visits Burrell Ranch
George B. Schadmann owner of Schadmann Preparatory School in Washington arrived from Washington D C after touring the Burrell ranch above town. He discussed his graduates serving on government warships and offered views on Hoover Coolidge and Al Smith politics. He plans to visit Montana then return to the East, noting a backward spring in the East.

Elliott well at Pondera drills into sulphur water
After initial prospects and local investment, the J. W. Elliott oil well in Pondera field was drilled into sulphur water at 2 086 feet. Oil and gas were recorded from 2 037 to 2 051 feet, with about 30 feet saturated. Plans call for shooting the well and Continental Development’s Pendroy well the same day. Local promoters remain hopeful despite earlier disappointing results amid geological uncertainty.

County Schools Meet Set With 500 Expected To Attend
County pupils from all sections travel to the big annual schools meet with an estimated 500 participants and many spectators. The program runs 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. with a noon parade, free chocolate at the park, a 1 p.m. band concert, and events for divisions 1 3 in the morning and 2 4 in the afternoon. Weighted points determine the loving cup for the top school.
