Bynum Field Meet Yields Small-Town Upset and Local Notes
Pupils from Bynum School attended the Choteau field meet on May 11 and 12 where Choteau captured the cup but faced strong showings from small schools. Earl Dornbhiser won two firsts and Grendon Stokes paced a quarter mile. Yvonne Rieken and Dora King also earned blue ribbons. Local residents and visitors, including Mr. and Mrs. Wall, Alf Waynild, Mary Truchot, and others, are noted with travel, family visits, and elevator repairs along the line. A closing of the school year is anticipated with staff summer plans and farm moves.

Debate Over Exposing Man's Legs on New York Screens
The New York Supreme Court case reviews a state motion picture commission order to delete scenes showing a man’s legs when trousers are pulled by a dog at a dance. Mrs. Eli T. Ideas Not Alike: Child Happiness Across Savage Cultures
The piece weighs whether happiness favors the pampered child or the child raised among cannibals and savages. It notes maternal love in Africa and cities, then surveys childrearing: Eskimo and North Siberian babies dunked in cold water to strengthen limbs, Fiji and Andaman infants kept warm, and Andaman scars for bush protection.

Afghan Fiber Emerges as Potential Textile Substitute
A newly discovered fiber called afghan, found by Sir Henry Wickham, could rival flax and cotton. It is stronger than hemp and flax, resists sea water, weaves into fine cloth, and dyes easily. Afghan may shift textile reliance beyond wool, flax, silk, and cotton, marking a significant development in fabric science.

Books Revised by Writers Reflect Earliest Editions
The editions printed 200 or 300 years ago are largely free from typographical errors because early publishers were eminent scholars who themselves revised proofs. This attention to accuracy helped ensure careful editing and faithful reproduction of texts.
