Change in Carter Oil well site near Choteau
Carter Oil Co. shifted its initial well site on the Rattlesnake Butte structure south of Choteau to the northeast corner of Section 18, Township 23 North, Range 4 West. The new location lies within government permit units on Chas Frost land, near the east west road and a few hundred yards south of the original site where derrick timbers were unloaded.

World Champion Dempsey Arrives to Train in Great Falls
World heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey arrived in Great Falls to begin training for his July 4 title defense against Tommy Gibbons in Shelby. The massive turnout packed the Great Northern station with photographers jammed and fans pressing onto platforms. Dempsey planned a two to three mile distance from the city for a training camp with a ring and living quarters, as manager Kerns travels between Great Falls and Shelby.

The first commercial structure in Chateau, built in 1879 by Peter Trudeau, a pioneer, stands on Main Avenue. Once a store post office and court room, it later served as a warehouse for Jos. Hawks Invade City Attract Shotgun Fire
Two large hawks entered Chateau's city limits last Thursday targeting a rear chicken yard owned by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allum. Mrs. Allum fired her twelve gauge shotgun, striking both birds. The hawks, nearly two feet from tip to wing, will be mounted as evidence of the incident.

Bad Weather Fails To Spoil Kids Fun At Meet
Unsettled weather could not dampen a two day track meet in Chateau with several hundred students from Teton county districts. Awards were given in spelling arithmetic silent reading and stock judging with first places going to Cho teau Fairfield and Bynum students. Exhibits from penmanship drawing and needlework will be shown at the Montana State Fair in Helena.
