Twelve Rigs To Drill In County Within a Month

Twelve wells are planned within a 25 mile radius of Chateau in Teton county, all in an as yet unproved area. Five wells are already drilling near Farmington Agawam Bynum Dufton and Koyle. Additional wells include Gypsy sites near Collins and Pendroy, a Carter near Chateau and a rumored Black Magic venture west of Power.

Timbers Unloaded for Carter Derrick Near Choteau

Three truck loads of timbers were unloaded on the P. H. Crossen ranch southwest of Choteau for the Carter Oil Co. The G. B. Frix Co. will erect the derrick, with location near the Choteau Great Falls highway. Officials await headquarters guidance before final spot. Caving continues at Campbell well southeast of Farmington with casing and tools recovered after a jar break. Drilling nears 3600 feet with several potential Madison horizons and prospects at Ellis and other zones. California well near Agawam tests Devonian sands as oil shows remain inconclusive. Cash leases on Truchot estate near the well totaled about $5900.

Dramatic Contests To Open County Track Meet Program

A two part track meet program supervised by the county superintendent features a dramatization contest for first four grade children. Students from multiple county schools perform scenes from Cinderella The Little Red Hen and more with judges yet to be confirmed. winners to be announced by Mrs. Saylor.

Sheriff Seizes Still and Mash in Choteau Area Raid

Sheriff Wm. D. Reiquam and Undersheriff Walter Streeter netted 9 copper stills and three barrels of mash in a raid on premises occupied by Andrew Strange, twenty five miles southwest of Choteau last Wednesday. Strange arrested and brought to Choteau with the outfit. No finished product found. He pleaded not guilty to illegal liquor manufacturing in district court and was released on bond for trial.

Porter succeeds Cole on H S Board in Teton County

C H Porter was appointed Monday by county commissioners to fill the vacancy on the Teton County High School board created by Phil I Cole's resignation. Porter will complete Cole's term ending December 31 1924. Farmington couple Caspar and Mrs Peterson welcomed a son born April 29 at Choteau hospital.

Clara Barton Tree Planted by Chateau Women’s Club

A white ash memorial tree for Clara Barton was planted on the courthouse lawn Tuesday afternoon. The ceremony drew about three hundred citizens and students with a guard from Chateau Post No. 6 American Legion.

Forty Will Graduate With Class of 1923

Forty graduates from Teton County High School will receive diplomas at a commencement program May 17 in the school auditorium. The schedule includes baccalaureate, class day, class play And Ted Came Home, commencement exercises, and the Junior Prom. Included are list of 40 graduates with full names.

County track meet invites picnic at high school

Visiting contestants and families from district schools will picnic at the county track meet Saturday at noon at the high school. Mrs. Saylor says lunches are on entrants with coffee and cocoa provided. Milk or cream welcome from nearby Chateau residents.

Dempsey to Defend Title July Fourth in Shelby Montana

Chicago May 5 Jack Dempsey will defend his white heavyweight title July Fourth in Shelby Montana against Tommy Gibbons in a 9 round to a decision bout with the heavyweight championship at stake. Kearns and Kane signed the articles and arranged a 190000 signing bonus with 100000 for forfeit and 10000 for training.
