Wheat and grain stocks show record April 1 totals
Montana April 1 grain stocks set record highs with 2 291 million bushels of corn and 1 288 million of wheat across all positions. Oats 674 million and rye 23 7 million were noted, while off farm total wheat rose to 1 069 million, a record for date. Off farm stocks and CCC loans dominate the wheat figures.

Hawaiian Pintail Shot During Welcome On Georgetown Lake
A pintail duck from Hawaii was shot by a Montana welcoming party on Georgetown Lake last year. The bird, wintering on Oahu, was handed February 16, 1955, after migrating north for nesting and then shot in October on its return south. Airline distance Georgetown Lake to Oahu is about 3000 miles.
