Alexander Alexander Found Guilty Of Second Degree Assault
Duane Alexander 41, a ranch hand, was found guilty of second degree assault by a district court jury. Judge R. M. Hattersley sentenced him to five years in state prison at Dear Lodge and set a $3,000 cash bond on appeal. Alexander shot Don Lussenden at the Emil Durr ranch March 17. An appeal to the Montana Supreme Court was filed.

CHS Delegation Heads to State Music Festival in Missoula
Chateau High School will take 30 students to the state music festival in Missoula on May 10. Seven students earn all state spots across band orchestra and chorus. Hollar Named Head of Teton Sports Group
V Earl Hollar was named president of the Teton County Sports men's Association at the annual election in the court room. John Rose was elected vice president and Lowell Meyers secretary treasurer. The group plans a magpie hunt for kids from May 15 to June 15 with eggs and birds turned in at Chateau or Fairfield offices on Mondays and Fridays 10 to 11 a.m. Contest prizes include payments for magpies and young birds with high point prizes. A committee will draft by laws and a littering education drive was approved.

Reservist Lt Field Joins USS Bremerton For Brief Duty
Long Beach California April 27 1956 Lt Carl B Field USNR of Great Falls Naval Reserve Unit NRED 133 reports aboard the heavy cruiser USS Bremerton for a two week active duty period. While aboard he receives training in gunnery and engineering and serves as running mate to ship officers. City weighs extending closing time for bars
Bar and beer hall operators urged the city council to extend closing from midnight Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday. A petition to gauge public opinion will be circulated. Lloyd Martin returned from Topeka May 2 after joining a family reunion celebrating his parents fiftieth wedding anniversary on April 30.
