Twilight League Opens Season With Festivities
The Twilight baseball league started its season Sunday at the ballpark with two seven inning games. A band parade from Main avenue to the Chateau Implement Co. and back drew Mayor Burns and many spectators. A pennant ceremony for last year’s champions the Independents was planned but the presentation was delayed.

At the regular annual meeting Mayor C. W. Burns announced the re appointment of J. G. Jackson as city clerk water superintendent and fire chief. Alderman assignments to committees were unchanged. At the Chateau Woman's club meeting held Tuesday at Mrs. J. B. Conlin's home, officers for the year were installed with Mrs. George Thompson succeeding Mrs. Gay Bagley as president. Other officers include R. E. Nelson, G. A. Carroll, Marion Averill, Gay Franklin, and C. W. Burns. A library report and financial statement were presented, followed by a program featuring Mrs. Alice Calvert Tower and her mother, Mrs. Calvert, and Mrs. Crowe with piano and vocal selections and a talk on early American music. Refreshments were served.

Country Club grounds east of town undergo aesthetic and playing facility improvements led by G C Core with a six man crew under Art Ramsey. Forty trees have been planted along the first eighth and ninth fairways and greens upgrade includes removing surface dirt and replacing with oiled sand using Cui Bank field crude oil to prevent sand blow. Sheriff J J Billings and Undersheriff T J Dellno issue bounty certificates as the April to June season runs. By Monday 157 bounties at two dollars each were claimed at two offices, Frank Rosette filing 89. Jim Collins brought in two litters, killing mothers, a rare event. Bounties in 1934 reached 270. larger litters suggested a busier season ahead.

Rare Continental currency bill found in local relics
Walter Gorham uncovered a 1776 Continental currency bill in an old Bible once owned by W. J. Bickett.
