500 Barrel Per Day Oil Well Found On Lusty Farm Near Pendray
A W. Lusty farm well three miles east of Pendray produced 500 barrels per day of high 40 gravity oil, drilled by Winkler and Son after Lusty purchased the land from George Porter. Initial testing flowed 171 barrels in seven hours, aided by a 2000 gallon acid shot. The well lies south of a 10 barrel well by Hanneh Porter on the Ben ranch.

Ranch Hand Burned to Death in Bunkhouse Fire

Hampton a transient laborer believed hired about ten days earlier by Boyd Stenson was burned to death Sunday night when a bunkhouse on the Hamilton Rahr ranch northwest of Simms burned about 10 pm. The bunkhouse was demolished and Hampton’s identity and relatives were not yet established by coroner Larry Banks.

Lyall Crary of Chateau High School posted the best Montana mile time of 1952 for both A and B schools, clocking 4:39.1 to defeat Dick Scotson of Great Falls High by .2 seconds on the Great Falls track. Chateau’s relay quartet also ran 1:42 for the half mile to win second behind Great Falls 1:39. Lewistown placed third in the event.
