Tractor accident claims life of Jesse Smith near Chateau
Jesse Jacob Smith a 39 year old Teton county farmer died after a tractor overturned Friday afternoon near his ranch 15 miles east of Chateau. He was pinned under the machine for about an hour and a half before help arrived. He leaves a wife and three children Maurice Wesley Isabel Margaret and Thelma Pauline, plus a brother Lester and half brother Paul. The body rests at Roberts funeral home with services at the Methodist church this afternoon.

Teton High Wins State Honors at Bozeman
Teton county high school sent teams to the state college high school week in Bozeman from May 1 to 3. First in farm mechanics, second in livestock judging, and third in Latin were earned by Teton students. Ray Davidson led with 352 points, Jim Anderson and Vernard Olson starred on the judging team, and Marybelle Peterson won the Latin prize.

Tulip Time delights in high school operetta
The operetta Tulip Time was presented Saturday night to a crowded Chateau high school auditorium. Pupils from Chateau public school performed under Miss Ruby Miller's direction with help from teachers and town staff. Special acts included an orchestra from town and high school, a dance Tiptoe to the Tulips, and numbers by Billy Baillie and Bobby Kropp. The Holland springtime setting featured a painted landscape, a stream arch, a rustic house, a windmill, and tulips.

Al Udin Seeks Re Nomination for County Commissioner
Al Udin announces plans to file again for the democratic nomination for county commissioner from the third district. A longtime Fairfield-area rancher and board chairman, he seeks to see through ongoing projects and has lived in the county about 30 years. He was elected to the board in 1924, defeating C. P. Crane, and has been a resident near Fairfield while involved in sheep raising and farming.

A D Moir Transferred To Chelan Forest
A D Moir, five years assistant supervisor of the Lewis and Clark National Forest, is transferred to the Chelan National Forest in Washington effective June first. He and his family will move to Okanogan. Moir, raised in New York, has long served in forest administration and will handle assistant supervisor duties, grazing matters, and forest protection in Chelan. Supervisor Lockhart calls the transfer a loss to the Lewis and Clark forest.
