Senior Play Charms Local Audience In Comedy

The senior class play Nothing But The Truth drew a good house last Friday with John Sulgrove as Robert Bennett and Thelma Swenson as Gwendolyn Ralston under Miss Alva Largon. Proceeds near $100 funded stage and curtain needs and other school activities.

District Judge Hattersley Holds Court Here

Teton High Students Compete in State Week Events

Eight Teton county students travel to Bozeman for state high school week events under Montana State College auspices. Four boys will enter farm mechanics and stock-judging contests against 25 Smith Hughes schools. four girls compete in scholastic contests including American history and Latin. One girl, Erma Baldwin, cannot compete in first year Latin due to grade level. Funding comes from Great Northern and Northern Pacific railroads, Chateau Woman's club, and the high school student activities fund.

Local Track Meet Sets Eight Records in Chateau

Eight Montana schools took part in the second annual track and field meet at Chateau. Belt led with 364 points, James Irwin earning five firsts and a gold medal as top scorer. Conrad and Teton county followed with 31 and 26 points respectively. Loomis of Teton injured a leg, limiting his chances. Mile relay set a new record at 4 02, Conrad claiming a clear win. Medals and ribbons were awarded to top finishers, with Coach J Kent Midgett honored with a statuette.

Plans for Choteau baseball revival gain momentum

A Lions club committee backs a revived independent baseball effort in Choteau after the 1925 Teton county league demise. G C Core and supporters say ample material exists and only equipment and diamond improvements are needed. The county donated tractor and grader to level the field as work continues.

Tulip Time operetta and declamatory contest set at high school

On the calendar this Saturday at 8:15 p m the Cha teau public school presents Tulip Time operetta by its pupils. A declamatory contest follows Monday night at the same venue to select a Teton county representative for the Missoula state contest. ten contestants entered.

Miss Nella Maynard Weds Seeley Moore at Helena Parish

Miss Nella Maynard 19 daughter of Dr. E. B. Maynard and Seeley Moore principal of the Warren school near Helena were married Sunday at a Presbyterian church parsonage in Helena. Rev. Hannon officiated with Otho McLean as best man and Marguerite Maynard as bridesmaid. The bride a Ton county high school graduate, met Mr Moore after leaving Dillon in 1928 for state normal college. The couple will reside at the school where he teaches.

Delegates Named for 4-H Convention in Bozeman

County Agent Robert Clarkson will name two outstanding Teton county 4-H club members as delegates to the first state convention in Bozeman June 17 to 20. Two local club leaders will also be named to attend with railroad fare provided.

Legion Band Warmly Welcomed at Saturday Concert

The American Legion band of the city opened a planned free street concert series last Saturday despite a light rain. The program included Columbian March Apple March Burton March Blue Jackets March and Overture Golden Gate. A Lions club committee discussed a fundraising subscription to aid the band and the erection of a movable band stand with suitable lighting. Bandmaster Robert Clarkson announced the next concert for Saturday evening May 10.

Adams Oil Co Expands Bynum Plant Spawning New Tanks

Adams Oil Co of this city, Shell distributors, enlarges its Bynum facility with two 16,800 gallon tanks and a 7,000 gallon tank, plus an 18 by 42 warehouse and other improvements. Gordon Monkman leads the Bynum station project.

Rod and Gun Club to Hold Annual Meeting Friday

The Chateau Rod and Gun club will meet at the forest office Friday night beginning at 7 20. A delegate will be elected to attend the State Sportsmen's Association meeting in Helena on May 23 and 24, with officers to be elected and plans formed for the predatory bird and animal drive and stocking local streams. Coach Midgett Resigns from Tate County High School

J Kent Midgett who has served as athletic coach and mathematics instructor at Tate County High School since 1924 submitted his resignation to the county high school board on Wednesday. The resignation becomes effective at the end of the current school year. His future plans are not announced.

Scholastic meet draws 175 pupils from 41 county schools

The Teton county scholarship contest part of the state event will be held Saturday at 1:30 pm. Anna E. Stafford reports 175 grade pupils from 41 schools entered, with districts selecting one representative per grade. Tests cover spelling reading arithmetic and language across grades three through eight. Winners advance to the state contest and three best compositions are also submitted.

Brady Confesses to Multiple Bank and Post Office Robberies

Persistent effort by Teton county officials with Cascade county officers and US Post Office Inspector W J Cooney led to Frank Brady being jailed at the state penitentiary in Deer Lodge. Brady robbed Power-Morgan store in town, the post office, and Munson store at Bole early April 20. He traveled 391 miles from Chateau to track his flight, was identified at Langey's Corner, and was later cornered in Conrad after a pursuit through Canada and Pendroy. He surrendered with no resistance.
