Teton High shines at state FFA meet in Bozeman triumphs

Teton High School earned multiple honors at the Montana state Future Farmers of America week at Montana State College Bozeman. John Gibler won first in shop and high overall in five contests earning a ratchet brace and end wrenches as prizes. the chapter claimed a top three finish in several events and received a $10 cash prize as third outstanding chapter.

Annual Amateur Contest Tonight at Chateau High School

R. E. Nelson announces the second annual amateur night at the Chateau high school auditorium starting 8 p m. Entrants come from Power Fairfield Agawam Bynum Belleview Collins and Chateau. Prizes include 10 7 and 4 dollars, plus a trip to the Lions district convention in June at Calgary judged by Lions. Score sheets provided at entry and explained by Mr Nelson.

City Dads Hold Busy May Session

The regular May meeting of the city council organized the new council after last month’s election. Paul Kropp replaced H. Porter as alderman. C. W. Burns remains mayor with R. R. Mellon as president acting in Burns’s absence. Officials appointed included J. G. Jackson as city clerk and water superintendent, F. C. Barribal as city treasurer, Thos. Neely as city marshal, and Gus Thompson as fire chief with salaries listed. The council approved building moves, license discussions, and plumbing licensing disputes, and accepted the Knudtzon Lumber Co bid of 428.96 for sewer extension materials.

Four Draw Fines In Local Courts

Fred Dutro Jr of Chateau was arrested early Sunday by Highway Patrolman Storm and fined 75 dollars for driving under the influence. Claude Roy Shebel and Jack Lykins were fined 10 dollars each for disturbing the peace at Mountain View Gardens dance. Bert McNeal of Chateau paid 10 dollars in police court for drunkenness and dis orderly conduct after arrest by City Marshal Thomas Neely.

Teton High To Send Four To Interscholastic Meet

Teton county high track team members Sid Yeager Jim Moore Don Buckingham and Kenneth Thompson will travel to Missoula for the annual interscholastic meet at the State university May 14 15 They will run the half mile relay with Yeager entering the 100 yard dash 440 and high jump Moore the half mile and mile Buckingham the 100 and 220 dashes and broad jump Thompson the 220 and pole vault A practice run showed Moore clocking 4 59 2 for the mile The team also heads to Cascade Friday for a meet and to Augusta Saturday for a triangular with Simms and Augusta.

Recreational Council to Meet Friday in May

The Teton County Recreational Council will meet Friday May 7 with Collins and Liberty leaders in charge of the program. Bole leaders serving lunch will report. Reports on chatanqua numbers are requested from listed community leaders including Chateau Gibson Monkman Pendrey and Mrs G R Talbert.

Organizes Harmonica Band at Wolf Creek School

The Wolf Creek School harmonica band photo drew Teton county interest as Robert Funk, principal and band organizer, who taught in the county for about a decade, is noted. Funk belonged to the Chateau Lions club and was superintendent of the local chautauqua.

Teton county high school tops 10-team invitational track meet with 424 points coached by J Kent Midgett. Centerville finishes second as Sid Yeager leads with 18 points and Moore and Jarvi tie for second with 10 each. Moore sets half mile record at 7.6 seconds for 3.0. Phillips of Dutton clocks 10.3 in 100 yard dash to break 10.5 from 1933. Yeager ties 440 yard dash record at 55 seconds. Distance relay matches Centerville 1:41.0. Yeager clears 5 feet 4 inches in high jump. Moore wins mile as time lacks pressure.

Piano Recital Program Set At Chateau High School

The high school auditorium in Chateau hosts a piano recital on Tuesday May 11 at 8 15 p m with an admission charge. The program lists solo piano pieces duets vocal selections dances and an acrobatic act featuring students including Nancy Stenson Patricia Miller Margaret Armstrong and Betty Coffey among others with various composers and titles.
