Amateur Night at Choteau May 6 Offers Big Variety Program
The second annual Amateur Night in Choteau sponsored by the Lions Club will be on Thursday May 6 at the county high school auditorium. Twenty entries are listed with acts ranging from mouth harp to piano, German band, novelty numbers, acrobatics and readings. Prizes total 21 dollars with 10 for first, 7 for second, 4 for third plus one act chosen for the Calgary Lions district convention. Audience judging counts 60 of 100 points. curtain at 8 pm, check in by 7 30, admission 35 cents adults 15 cents children. Slogan Bigger and better than last year.

Grade School Pageant to Be Friday Night
The Chateau public school presents Vision of Sir Launfal at the high school auditorium Friday evening. Pupils under Miss Patricia Weberg supervise music. Elaborate preparations include scenes costumes and equipment. Admission is 25 cents for adults 15 cents for children with reserved seats 10 cents extra at Rexall Drug Store.

The Dutton Lions club hosted a fraternal visit with Choteau Lions, featuring F F A boys performing a radio style program and a display of moving pictures by Lions Sollid and Cheetham. Local views covered Dut ton activities while California film sequences showcased Rose Bowl and other beyond Montana scenes. District Governor Van DeMark of Cut Bank planned a May visit to the Chateau club.

Popular girl Helen Brown dies after brain fever
Helen Mae Brown 17, a Chateau senior and valedictorian, died at Choteau hospital from brain fever after two weeks of illness linked to the flu. Born October 23, 1919 in Choteau, she was active in school and church circles, attended public school, and was beloved by many. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev. Edwin Dover officiating. Interment in Chateau cemetery. She is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brown, a sister Frances, a brother, and grandparents in Elgin and Farmington.

Big Celebration Coupons Available Saturday For Cash Drawings

Funeral Services for Wm Kooyman at 2 P M Today
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o clock from the Methodist church for Wm Kooyman who died Monday forenoon at Chateau hospital where he had been patient since April 3. Rev Edwin Dover will officiate and interment follows at Chateau cemetery with Charles G Roberts directing. Pallbearers are Odin Forseth Pete Peterson John Schoenfeldt Yelte Bakker Thos Groot and Cornelius Sonefeldt. He was born Aug 9 1870 in Holland and was single. Survivors include brothers Pete Nick and Cornelius Kooyman and cousin K R Smith of Farming ton.

Big Invitational Tange Meet in Choteau May 1
Preparations push forward for the annual invitational track and field meet in Choteau directed by Coach J Kent Midgett of Teton high. Eight schools have entered with four more to hear from. Cascade Centerville Dutton Power St Marys Simms Fort Shaw and Teton are listed. The host school will award ribbons in all events except the relay where four blue ribbons go to the winning team. A gold medal goes to the individual with the most points and a trophy to the winning school. Local school favorites include Sid Yeager Jim Moore Kenneth Thompson Charles Rose Ray Agee and Don Buckingham among others as they prepare for a strong bid despite weather. Entries allow two contestants per event, except relays. Events run from 1:30 to 4:00 with multiple finals and no admission charged.
