An anecdotal reminiscence from southern Montana recounts Fort Keogh Captain Brown and his troopers visiting an Ogallala Sioux camp at Willow Creek in 1890. It recalls Ghost Dances and the December 15 Standing Rock clash, the Wounded Knee surrender, and a veteran Pete Thompson’s reflections on the later massacre with stark, nongraphic details.
