Beginning as an eighth grade project by Forsythe and Ben Slanger, six Hampshire Rambouillet crossbreds were fed on alfalfa, wheat, and cottonseed cake, producing a 39 pound total gain per lamb in 100 days at four cents per pound.

Hearings Set On Butter Marketing Pact in Western States
Farm administration officials scheduled seven hearings on a proposed butter marketing agreement covering 11 western and mountain states. Missoula Montana hosts March 25 followed by Seattle March 27 Portland March 29 San Francisco April 1 Los Angeles April 4 Salt Lake City April 8 and Denver April 11. The AAA says the voluntary pact will not interfere with existing trade or block price signals.

Horse prices rise as winter market outpaces last year
Al Irlon of Broadus notes the horse market hit a low but prices are higher this winter. He says the poorest horses averaged about eight dollars last year and about twenty five this year. This season fattening used alfalfa stubble and oats with alfalfa hay, yielding 30.8 pounds in 110 days at 81 cents per pound of gain.
