Water Bomb Prank Causes Fairfield Man Eye Injury

A water balloon prank shattered a windshield on a highway near Chateau injuring Audrey Brandon of Fairfield who lost an eye after glass fragments entered it. Two Choteau youths confess they threw the balloon. as minors their names aren’t published. The case prompts patrol warnings and possible juvenile action for repeat offenders.

Choteau Seeks Trustees and Bond Vote for School

A Choteau district election on April 5 will elect two school board trustees for three-year terms and decide a $90,000 bond for completing the new grade school building. The two seats held by Cecil Passmore and Al Hensley expire. filings close five days before election. Regular meetings are the first Thursday each month. The board plans to add kindergarten and hire more teachers for the 1952-53 year, with tax impact outlined by Supt. Robert Graham.

Belt Man Wins Grand Prize at VFW Perch Derby

About a thousand anglers and spectators attended the second annual VFW perch derby at Bynum reservoir. Waimo Stone Belt won $9 with a 1 lb 1544 oz perch. Elmer Olson Augusta took first in men’s division with a 1 lb 7% oz fish. Sue Stuart earned first in women’s division with a 1 lb 1% oz catch. Russell Erickson Sunny Slope had the best kid’s fish at 1 lb 8% oz. Over 200 cars, four volunteers, and a Denton private plane visitor joined.

Lions View Buffalo History At Tuesday Club Meeting

Lions club members attended a film by Robert Gormley about the American bison. It showed that 5,000 buffalo were slaughtered daily in 1872 73 and 74, leaving only 500 a decade later. Conservation Day program in Choteau Friday afternoon

Tomorrow a Conservation Day program will be held at the courthouse in Choteau at 1:30 p.m. Farmers stockmen and business men are urged to attend. Soil Conservation officials from Teton county will present reports and M. P. Hansneler extension conservationist will give a talk with colored slides from Turkey. PMA Committeemen Set Meeting Next Wednesday in Chateau

A group of 39 PMA community committeemen from Teton County will meet at 10 a.m. next Wednesday March 19 in the Legion hall rooms at Chateau. Mail Carrier Dies of Attack At Postoffice

William Cummings 74 a star route carrier between Great Falls and Pendroy died of a sudden heart attack yesterday morning at Choteau while delivering mail at the post office. He had been a contract carrier since 1946 and lived in the Great Falls area most of his life. Survivors include his widow Nora L a son Thomas a daughter Fay Paulson six grandchildren one brother and five sisters. Funeral arrangements will be announced.
