Chateau residents oppose bar permit on block 5

An unofficial meeting between Chateau property owners and City Council discussed objections to A. M. Yale’s bar and lounge permit on blocks 12 to 14, with residents petitioning about 375 names against the site. Officials note state law requires 600 feet from liquor outlets to churches or schools, the site being 675 feet from the nearest public school. The council says revocation isn’t possible, but petitioners may appeal to the state liquor control board in Helena for a hearing scheduled tomorrow.
