School Notes On Dance Plans And Contests

The senior class invites students to a Friday night dance in the high school auditorium with hopes for a large attendance. Debaters travel to Chinook on March 28 for a state contest. winner advances to the final at the State University during spring track. Alta Colice earns a place in the Extemporaneous Essay contest and schools may win a state scholarship trip to Bozeman. Basketball closes season after Belt game. freshmen gain permanent upstairs seating. Burton Calkins has withdrawn from school.

Seventh and Eighth Graders Keep Thrift Stamp Pace

Reports show seventh and eighth grades lagging on thrift stamp quotas but expect to meet targets. A Saturday party for grade girls is planned by Lucille Sturgeon. Chas Rhoads invites imaginations for an art class horse drawing session. Opal Calkins plans to move to Chicago in a few weeks. The eighth graders finished an illustration titled Snow Bounds and praise their work. Kred Anderson returns after two weeks of illness, and Earl Wiggins recovers from illness. Art classes in early grades study Indians along with regular studies. Charles Rhoads spoke of his Helena trip to the classes, which enjoyed the talk. The eighth grade now studies modern history on Fridays. Fiske Strang was injured Saturday and missed Monday. The fifth grade, Kesley Hall, is absent with a cold. There are no classes for the unfortunates in the world.

Fire destroys Maghz home. family escapes with light clothes

On Tuesday morning a kitchen range fire at the home of J. K. Maghz swept through the house, destroying all but a few store room items. Firemen could not save contents due to dense smoke. Neighbors provided clothing while the family, uninsured, faced total loss despite partial insurance on the residence.

J. J. Greene Named Judge of 19th District
