Reports received in Valier state Emmett Ryan son of Henry Ryan, died November 11 while in action after being wounded November 4 during the Allied drive. Ryan, a 1906 graduate, was a well known figure in Teton county and a member of the local alumni. His death follows news of Lieut Harold Joyce killed in action. Community mourns the loss of a prominent young man.
Washington reports that sailors, marines, and all who served in the U.S. military from April 6, 1917, to November 1918, including nurses, are eligible for a $60 bonus. Claims must include full service details, discharge papers, and current address, with payments processed by zone finance officers.
Chaplain WT B Ayres, after serving in Brest, says reports of dire conditions exaggerate the situation.
