Simms Independents captured first place in the three day eight team tourney defeating the Chateau Racketeers 44 to 38 in the final. Brady and Dutton traded places for third and fourth as Dutton beat Brady 41 to 28 in the consolation. Semi finals saw Simms beat Brady 46 to 27 and Chateau topple Dutton 38 to 25. Individual honors went to Dunekel Bleecker Larimer Weikum Ombolt Kirby Rafter Cohoe. Awards: Simms $25 Chateau $15 Dutton $10 Brady $5. Referees were Herb Winners and Former. Box scores of Sunday night games noted.
The state highway commission issued a bid call to be opened March 21 for $159,000 in projects in Teton county including grading and road surface on 7.05 miles of the Chateau Sun River road a 4 span 189 foot steel concrete and timber bridge across the Teton river about 142 miles southeast of Choteau and five timber stockpasses on the Choteau Sun River road. part of the $3 million highway debenture issue approved by Montana voters.
At the annual Farmers Fun Feed in Chateau high school on Thursday March 23 communities in the county will present a varied program. Skits musical numbers and novelty acts are planned with Greenfield offering the one act play The Duke. Tickets are selling well per the county agent’s office.
County crop insurance supervisor Mr. F. Reid Swenson states that all signees who did not finish their forms must report to the county office immediately. All applications must be submitted to the branch office by March 18.
The 26th Montana Assembly returns home with a spotless record of conservative action. They refused to raise taxes and passed rural oriented measures including grazing district regulation and soil conservation board reform. Labor bills were defeated and a 30 day divorce law and gambling legalization bills failed. The impeachment attempt against Attorney General Harrison J. Freebourn failed amid fireworks.
Last week two new school newspapers debuted. The Chronicle, edited by Paul and Austin Vick of the eighth grade, will publish on Tuesdays and Fridays and showcases the brothers’ journalistic skills. The sixth grade paper by Yvonne Wheeler also credits Miss Wheeler and covers current events.

The American Legion of Chateau sponsors a high school musical comedy Ship Ahoy to be staged March 17 at 8 15 PM in the high school auditorium. Cast rehearsals use the grade school hall with chalked marks. Tickets go on sale after tomorrow at Rexall Drug Store for 35 cents general admission and 15 cents reserved.
Farmers urged to attend county meetings starting March 13 to learn details of the 1939 agricultural conservation program. Sessions begin 1 30 p m at Pendroy Agawam Fairfield Power Chateau Collins Dutton with an additional range program in Chateau on March 17 at 11 am. The 1939 plan mirrors 1938 but full compliance payment is about twice as high.
The Odd Fellows held a highly successful season finale Tuesday evening with about 140 attendees filling the hall. Guests traveled from Walier, Great Falls, and other lodges to enjoy lunch and dancing to Mrs Cohoe's orchestra, marking the last dance until April's anniversary party.

The Ozark Mountain Hill Billies girls team faces the Chateau Racketeers Monday night at the high school gym. The Hill Billies, a seven-member squad with one man Jumping Joe Sato vich, are billed as rugged, playing by men’s rules. Racketeers manager Jack Core notes the game opens at 7:30 with general admission.
