Rain brings modest help to Teton County crops

Rainfall varied across the county with 4.3 inches at Chateau and an unofficial report of 7 inches at Collins. County Agent Ray Kelly called the rain encouraging though it did not significantly boost soil moisture. W. H. Vance of the Soil Conservation Service said the rain could ease the drought impact but hot dry weather ahead may limit yield improvements.

Choteau Rodeo Teams Highlight Best Zumwalt and Lake Stock

Best Zumwalt and Lake Rodeo stock will be featured at Choteau July 3 4 rodeo. Jerry Breen reports top stock contracted for Great Falls Billings fairs and local show with 1800 prize money and RCA point system. Bleachers nearly ready and advance seats on sale at Chateau Drug. Parade July 4 features Choteau German band Great Falls Air Force band led by majorette Jean Schneider. Registration closes 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Lions Pool Opening Planned for Tuesday

The Lions club pool will open about July 1 with last year’s admission charges. Prices include 15 cents for grade school, 25 cents for high school and adults, $5 for family season tickets, $3 for adult or high school season tickets, and $2.50 for grade school tickets. Hours are 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Private swimming lessons cost $5 and run July 7 to August 15 with beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes meeting twice weekly for 50 minutes. Registration is Monday, June 30, 10–11 am and 2–3 pm, or call 4419. Season tickets may be used during lessons. The pool interior and possibly the building will be painted this week. Aronson to Speak Tonight at Courthouse Rally

State Sen. Hugo Aronson known as the Galloping Swede will address supporters at the Teton County courthouse tonight at 8 p.m. He has served in the Montana legislature 14 years and promotes limited central government and grassroots governance.

Airport Bids Opened By Commissioners

Bids from four contractors for the new Choléau airport Kengar were opened by commissioners Dr. C. W. Roussard Jerry Breen and Ben Chalmers. Amounts ranged from 10300 to 19055 with options for insulated floored buildings. The old hangar and office building burned in a heater explosion.

Address Changes From Unknown to Teton County Jail

Theodore Hansen, jailed after Justice William G. Irwin ordered him to serve a $125 fine at $2 per day for drunken driving. Hansen refused to disclose his address and was reportedly unable to pay the fine. Investigation also showed he had no driver's license, according to attorney Howard Heman.
