Transportation contract deadline for school payments near

Montana families receiving direct school transportation payments must sign 1971-72 contracts with their local school boards by Monday June 28. State Superintendent Dolores Colburg warns districts budget on June 28 and that without signed contracts no reimbursement for next year.

Mrs Robert McDonald former Choteau resident now in Helena was installed state president of the 73rd Rebekah Assembly in Bozeman June 13-17. Mrs Charles Allen of Choteau became musician and Hazel Castle attended as a lodge delegate. A 24 member Queen Rebekah Lodge No. 31 team directed seating of the new president and officers. Robert McDonald of Choteau Lodge No. 11 was installed treasurer of the Grand Lodge of Montana Odd Fellows.

Teton County Receives State School Aid Payment

The state sent 11,807,319 in final equalization aid to Montana schools, raising total equalization to 29,508,398 for the year. The fund comes from general and earmarked revenues including income tax, corporate license tax, and oil and gas royalties. Teton County's second half payment was 62,285, totaling 155,713 for the year.

City doubles garbage rates and adds sewer charge

The Chateau City Council doubled monthly garbage fees effective July 1 to raise 15000 for a landfill. Ordinance No. 181 also adds a sewer charge of 10 percent of the water bill to the tax rolls, with funds used to maintain the sewer system.

Chester Abbott of the Chateau Chamber of Commerce announces multiple groups plan to enter floats for this year’s July 4 parade. Lions Club Swim Team Hosts Nine Team Relays Meet

Chateau Lions open a nine meet 1971 schedule this Saturday June 26 hosting 10 teams for the 10th annual Chateau Relays. Coach Wayne Krahe fields 56 swimmers with new divers from Mrs Reiding. Top three in each event go to an International meet with Alberta on July 3 in Butte.

Mrs. Paulus Attends Training Conference in Denver

Mrs. Willard Paulus of Chateau travels to Denver to attend the Pacific Regional School of Christian Mission in the Women’s Society of Christian Service of The United Methodist Church. Post Office Name Change Is Announced

The inauguration of the new United States Postal Service on July 1 will be celebrated in Washington and at every post office. Postmaster Gibson Monkman invites all to visit their local post office for hospitality and a souvenir envelope showing old and new insignia. Blood drawing planned at Chateau United Methodist Church

A blood drive at Chateau United Methodist Church in Helena is set for next Wednesday, June 30, from 2 to 6 p.m. The event, moved up from July, aims to collect 65 pints, with hopes of surpassing a prior 90-donor draw. Rose Jensen Dies Interment Held In Dupuyer Cemetery

Services for Mrs. Tillie Rose Jensen were held in Choteau. She died Saturday, June 19, aged 86, after a life spanning Alberta and Montana. Interment was in Dupuyer cemetery with Banks Funeral Home in charge. She was born November 2, 1885 in Canada and married Henry M. Jensen in 1905. survivors include sons Henry Jens and Jess of Chateau, daughter Anna Thompson of Portland, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and sister Sara Salois of Elmo.

Goal Achieved For Feed Lot Near Chateau

Lyle Otness president of North Montana Feeders Inc says the company has sold 90000 in stock and has SBA loan application filed. Construction on a 200000 cattle feed lot will start after loan approval with a 4000 head capacity planned this fall. Location is about 6 miles north of Chateau near Highway 89 with room to grow to 10000 head. Stock remains available via Otness or directors.

DeMolay Boys Attend State Conclave in Billings

Members of Teton Chapter attended the state DeMolay conclave in Billings June 10 13 led by Master Councilor Rodney Cole. Nordhagen Pourroy Beaudean Hodgskiss and Cook placed in swimming bowling and pool with Cook named junior deacon for next year. Accompanying staff included Charles Tesch and Arthur Mills. Local meeting set for June 28 at 7 pm with initiation and refreshments.
